The rheology of drilling fluid, which characterizes its flow and deformation, is vital for transporting and suspending rock cuttings as well as for enhancing the drilling rate. Precise control of drilling fluid rheological parameters is essential to ensure borehole cleanliness and efficient drilling. This paper proposes an intelligent identification method for drilling fluid rheological parameters based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). The method employs magnetic stirring to generate stable images of drilling fluid flow, uses various data augmentation methods to increase the number of images and create a database, thereby enhancing the model’s robustness and generalization capabilities. In recent years, the research on the automatic performance testing technology for drilling fluids has achieved significant progress both domestically and internationally. However, automatic drilling fluid testing instruments face challenges, such as high costs, complicated structures, and restricted working environments. During the drilling, it is difficult to select the appropriate leakage prevention and plugging methods and materials as the development of reservoir fractures is unknown. Herein, a reservoir crack width prediction method based on neural network was proposed with reference to the actual history data of wells. Firstly, the main influencing factors of reservoir fracture width were explored and ranked by correlation analysis, and seven main influencing factors, including pump pressure, drilling fluid displacement and drilling speed, were selected as the input parameters. The traditional method of coal exploration is to obtain coal samples using an open coring tool and estimate the gas loss through theoretical calculations. However, the measured gas content of these coal samples is generally low, significantly impeding the development and utilization of coalbed methane and compromising the safety of coal mining operations. To meet the demands of deep coal exploration, an innovative pressure-preserved coring tool was specifically designed for the coal seam surface wells. Drilling fluid is very important for maintaining the stability of the hole wall in shale drilling. The mud cake formed by the fluid loss also plays a decisive role in protecting the reservoir. In order to study the influence of shale rock powder intrusion into low-solid-phase drilling fluids on the basic properties of mud cakes, the paper selects the siliceous shale powders in northwestern Hunan as the research object, and designs orthogonal experiments.
