Electrochemical Performances Of Carbon-Coated Na2ti6o13 Nanotubes, Guo-Ran Li, Shuai Sun, Xue-Ping Gao

Journal of Electrochemistry

With rutile TiO2 and NaOH as starting materials, the Na2Ti6O13 nanotubes were prepared by a hydrothermal reaction. The carbon-coated Na2Ti6O13 nanotubes were obtained by treating the Na2Ti6O13 nanotubes for 4 h in glucose aqueous solutions containing 0.1 mol?L-1 NaOH. The as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microcopy (TEM). The results showed that the dimensions of carbon-coated Na2Ti6O13 nanotubes were 14 ~ 19 nm of outer diameter, 2 ~ 5 nm of inner diameter, and several hundreds nanometers of length with a carbon layer of about 2 nm being coated on outer …

Phenomena Characterization Of Energy Materials By X-Ray Absorption Spectroscopy, Ming-Yao Cheng, Chun-Jen Pan, Ju-Hsiang Cheng, Bing-Joe Hwang

Journal of Electrochemistry

The aim of this review is to introduce the characterization of energy materials by X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) . This technique allows us to probe changes in the valance state and the local environment of the targeted element in the active material; thereby, leading to a better understanding of its electrochemical behavior, and hopefully showing the way to improved performance. Here, electrocatalysts for fuel cells and active electrode materials for Li-ion batteries are taken as the examples that illustrate the capability of XAS and allow observation and theory to be correlated with electrochemical phenomena.

Preparation And Electrochemical Property Of Bam Boo-Shaped Silicon Nanotubes, Zeng-Tao Liu, Yan-Peng Fu, Chen Li, Yong Yang

Journal of Electrochemistry

A novel 1D bamboo-shaped silicon nanotubes was synthesized by chemical vapor deposition with Au catalyst and their electrochemical properties were primarily studied. The results showed that these silicon nanotubes were amorphous with the length about tens micrometer and the diameter about one hundred nanometer.Cyclic voltammetry studies showed that Li ions could intercalate into such silicon nanotubes at two location,i.e.,from the conjoint location and the wall of the hole.Meanwhile, the bamboo-shaped structure could help release the expansion of volume, which is usually serious in the lithium batteries.
