The stress sensitivity of coal reservoir reduces the permeability, which in turn affects the productivity of coalbed methane (CBM)wells. So how to reduce this effect from stress sensitivity deserves further study in the CBM wells drainage process. To clarify the stress sensitivity characteristic and differences of different rank coal reservoirs, coal samples collected respectively from Fanzhuang block (high rank coal), Baode block (medium rank coal) and Erlian Basin (low rank lignite) were employed in this study. The production of coalbed methane (CBM) wells in China is generally low, and the CBM geological research is seriously divorced from the engineering, so it is urgent to introduce the idea of geological engineering integration, which is helpful to form a scientific engineering decision. In this paper, the idea of constructing a CBM geological engineering integration platform is proposed, and its business framework and function framework are built. According to the results of China’s new round of coalbed methane (CBM) resource evaluation, the CBM development mainly focuses on medium and shallow coal seams, and the geological conditions of deep-ultra deep coal reservoirs are more complicated. Thus, the reservoir fracturing technology and drainage management technology are two major factors in the development of CBM wells for deep coal reservoirs. The fracturing construction curve is considered to be an important basis for reflecting the fracturing effect, while the dynamic change of reservoir permeability in the fracturing stage can more intuitively reflect the effect of fracture formation. In this paper, a quantitative evaluation method for reservoir dynamic permeability in fracturing stage was established based on the principle of well testing. Based on survey data of coalbed methane exploration and development projects in China, the production status of coalbed methane fields and scientific & technological achievements, this paper analyzes the comprehensive control technical measures for stable and increasing production of coalbed methane fields, and the geological conditions and potential of deep coalbed methane exploration breakthrough. The coalbed methane horizontal well technology and the matching well pattern optimization and drainage technology are also summarized. Hydro-geochemistry analysis is an important method for CBM exploration and development research. In this paper, the distribution characteristics of salinity, H/O stable isotope and ion concentration in sample water was investigated, and the optimal CBM development area was analyzed by the characteristics of regional structural distribution and the CBM development history. The testing water was from the No.3 CBM well of the Shanxi Formation Permian system in the Lu’an Mining area in the south-central part of Qinshui Basin.
