Determination Of Kinetic Parameters From The Thermogravimetric Data Set Of Biomass Samples, Karol Postawa, Wojciech M. Budzianowski Dec 2012

Determination Of Kinetic Parameters From The Thermogravimetric Data Set Of Biomass Samples, Karol Postawa, Wojciech M. Budzianowski

Wojciech Budzianowski

This article describes methods of the determination of kinetic parameters from the thermogravimetric data set of biomass samples. It presents the methodology of the research, description of the needed equipment, and the method of analysis of thermogravimetric data. It describes both methodology of obtaining quantitative data such as kinetic parameters as well as of obtaining qualitative data like the composition of biomass. The study is focused mainly on plant biomass because it is easy in harvesting and preparation. Methodology is shown on the sample containing corn stover which is subsequently pyrolysed. The investigated sample show the kinetic of first order ...

Hydrogen Production From Biogas By Oxy-Reforming: Reaction System Analysis, Aleksandra Terlecka, Wojciech M. Budzianowski Dec 2011

Hydrogen Production From Biogas By Oxy-Reforming: Reaction System Analysis, Aleksandra Terlecka, Wojciech M. Budzianowski

Wojciech Budzianowski

Oxy-reforming is emerging as an interesting alternative to conventional methods of hydrogen generation. The current article characterises this process through analysis of individual reactions: SMR (steam methane reforming), WGS (water gas shift) and CPO (catalytic partial oxidation). Analyses relate to optimisation of thermal conditions thus enabling cost-effectivenes of the process.

The battery performance of a modified Prius with a 5 kWh plug-in battery was documented for a year to determine the impact of environmental conditions and user attributes on vehicle performance. Both fuel economy and pure electrical efficiency were compared to ambient temperature. The fuel economy has a positive relationship with ambient temperature until approximately 70˚F where the efficiency begins to drop. Electrical performance has a positive linear relationship with ambient temperature. With the emergence of electric vehicles (EVs) and PHEVs from a variety of automotive manufacturers, information on EV and PHEV performance for consumers will become more important.

New Developments In The Area Of Nonstationary And Sorption-Enhanced Catalytic Processes, Andrey N. Zagoruiko Jun 2011

New Developments In The Area Of Nonstationary And Sorption-Enhanced Catalytic Processes, Andrey N. Zagoruiko

Andrey N Zagoruiko

The presentation is dedicated to catalytic processes performed under artificially created catalyst nonstationarity. It is shown that the highest technological effect can be achieved for a controlled combination of the thermal nonstationarity with the composition nonstationarity of the catalyst surface. Prospective for application of unsteady catalytic and sorption-catalytic processes are analyzed for different case applications: VOC incineration, hydrogen production by steam conversion of hydrocarbons and organic feedsctock, selective anaerobic oxidation of hydrocarbons. In general, unsteady state and sorption-catalytic ideology discovers new degrees of freedom for process development and may become the basement for new generation of highly-efficient catalytic technologies in ...

Non-Steady-State Approach #11;To Steady-State Kinetics: #11;Case Study Of H2s Oxidation By Oxygen, Andrey N. Zagoruiko, Vladimir V. Mokrinskii Nov 2003

Non-Steady-State Approach #11;To Steady-State Kinetics: #11;Case Study Of H2s Oxidation By Oxygen, Andrey N. Zagoruiko, Vladimir V. Mokrinskii

Andrey N Zagoruiko

Non-steady-state kinetic models may be used for treatment of steady-state kinetic data in case when algebraic elaboration of steady-state kinetic equations is impossible or complicated. The proposed approach includes numerical integration of time-dependent differential equations until achievement of steady-state, resulting in possibility to numerically obtain the rate values for separate reaction stages for given composition of reaction mixture. The obtained non-steady-state model may be then applied in simulation of catalyst pellets and catalyst beds in research and engineering purposes. The case study demonstrates application of such approach for steady-state kinetic description of complicated reaction system of H2S oxidation by oxygen ...
