Design Optimization Of Inductive Power Transfer Systems For Contactless Electric Vehicle Charging Applications, Masood Moghaddami
Design Optimization Of Inductive Power Transfer Systems For Contactless Electric Vehicle Charging Applications, Masood Moghaddami
FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Contactless Electric Vehicle (EV) charging based on magnetic resonant induction is an emerging technology that can revolutionize the future of the EV industry and transportation systems by enabling an automated and convenient charging process. However, in order to make this technology an acceptable alternative for conventional plug-in charging systems it needs to be optimized for different design measures. Specifically, the efficiency of an inductive EV charging system is of a great importance and should be comparable to the efficiency of conventional plug-in EV chargers.
The aim of this study is to develop solutions that contribute to the design enhancement of …
Investigating Efficiency Of Ac Direct Drive Of Led Lighting, Miles Davis Head
Investigating Efficiency Of Ac Direct Drive Of Led Lighting, Miles Davis Head
Electrical Engineering
This project explores the rapidly-expanding area of AC direct drive for LED lighting. AC LED driving does not use typical DC-DC converter-based driving but uses semiconductor switches and a linear regulator to activate a number of LEDs proportional to the input voltage at any given time. This allows bulky, expensive magnetics to be eliminated from the system. The goal of this project was to develop a flexible simulation of a common AC LED system to find areas of significant power loss and attempt to improve them. This allows future versions of an AC LED system to start with major loss …
Microgrid Reliability Evaluation Based On Condition-Dependent Failure Models Of Power Electronic Devices, Qi Li
Theses and Dissertations
Microgrid, a distributed energy system consisting of distributed energy and loads, aims to ensure reliable and affordable energy security in urban and rural communities. With the growing global energy need and the emerging threat of climate change, green renewable energy is becoming a new favorite in the field of power generation. Microgrids have received wide spread attention and application for their minimizing carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions. Microgrids do so by maximizing clean local energy generation as well
as reducing the stress of the transmission and distribution system.
With the use of renewable energy, the reliability performance of microgrids …
Scada And Plc Systems Configuration For The Ncrept Test Facility, Arman Ahmed
Scada And Plc Systems Configuration For The Ncrept Test Facility, Arman Ahmed
Electrical Engineering Undergraduate Honors Theses
This thesis details the project to update the control and interface system of the National Center for Reliable Electric Power Transmission (NCREPT) testing facility. The need for this project arose from the 2017-2018 expansion of the facility, which included some modifications in the layout of electrical equipment used for testing purposes. These modifications necessitated the update of the control and interface system. Additionally, the old system was implemented a decade ago and is nearing obsolescence, so the facility’s expansion served as an opportune time for an upgrade.
There were two main parts to the scope of this project, which were …
Advanced Topologies Of High-Voltage-Gain Dc-Dc Boost Converters For Renewable Energy Applications, Ahmad Alzahrani
Advanced Topologies Of High-Voltage-Gain Dc-Dc Boost Converters For Renewable Energy Applications, Ahmad Alzahrani
Doctoral Dissertations
This dissertation proposes several advanced power electronic converters that are suitable for integrating low-voltage dc input sources, such as photovoltaic (PV) solar panels, to a high voltage dc bus in a 200 - 960 V dc distribution system. The proposed converters operate in the continuous conduction mode (CCM) and offer desirable features such as low-voltage stresses on components, continuous input currents, and the ability to integrate several independent dc input sources. First, a family of scalable interleaved boost converters with voltage multiplier cells (VMC) is introduced. Several possible combinations of Dickson and Cockcroft-Walton VMCs are demonstrated and compared in terms …
