Fast Generation Of Receiver-Based Statistics In Frequency Hop Radios Without Decoder Simulation, Michael Masse May 2009

Fast Generation Of Receiver-Based Statistics In Frequency Hop Radios Without Decoder Simulation, Michael Masse

All Theses

Receiver-based statistics can contain useful information about the quality a wireless channel. We examine methods of generating receiver statistics without real-time simulation of the receiver and the decoder, particularly during a network-level simulation. Attention is restricted to a receiver employing binary orthogonal signaling, noncoherent demodulation, and a soft-decision decoder in a frequency-hop network. Data is gathered from off-line simulations of channel, demodulation, and decoding processes, using a family of turbo product codes. Study and analysis of the data are used to characterize the behavior of the receiver statistics and determine on-line methods of generating the statistics in network-level simulations. To …

Joint Visual And Wireless Tracking System, Viswajith Karapoondi Nott Jan 2009

Joint Visual And Wireless Tracking System, Viswajith Karapoondi Nott

University of Kentucky Master's Theses

Object tracking is an important component in many applications including surveillance, manufacturing, inventory tracking, etc. The most common approach is to combine a surveillance camera with an appearance-based visual tracking algorithm. While this approach can provide high tracking accuracy, the tracker can easily diverge in environments where there are much occlusions. In recent years, wireless tracking systems based on different frequency ranges are becoming more popular. While systems using ultra-wideband frequencies suffer similar problems as visual systems, there are systems that use frequencies as low as in those in the AM band to circumvent the problems of obstacles, and exploit …

Remote Control Of Multiple Robots: A Wireless Sensor Network And Virtual Reality Approach, Yingjun Zhu Jan 2009

Remote Control Of Multiple Robots: A Wireless Sensor Network And Virtual Reality Approach, Yingjun Zhu

Open Access Theses & Dissertations

A tele-operation system of robots based on virtual reality and WSN is established and demonstrated. Pro/E, Blender 3D and Python language are adopted to build up and carry out the virtual environment and virtual robot. Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) technology has been used to achieve the tele-operation function. The WSN enables the users to control the robots and collect the data/status from the robots as well. Robot virtual reality software has been developed and presented in the paper. The network setup and the control/communication Application Programming Interface (API) has been shown in this paper.

Analysis And Design Of Low Power Cmos Ultra Wideband Receiver, Abdul Bhuiyan Jan 2009

Analysis And Design Of Low Power Cmos Ultra Wideband Receiver, Abdul Bhuiyan

UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones

This research concentrates on the design and analysis of low power ultra wideband receivers for Multiband Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing systems. Low power design entails different performance tradeoffs, which are analyzed. Relationship among power consumption, achievable noise figure and linearity performance including distortion products (cross-modulation, inter-modulation and harmonic distortion) are derived. From these relationships, circuit design proceeds with allocation of gain among different sub circuit blocks for power optimum system.

A power optimum RF receiver front-end for MB-OFDM based UWB systems is designed that covers all the MB-OFDM spectrum between 3.1 GHZ to 9.6 GHZ. The receiver consists of a …
