Since the introduction of power electronics to the grid, the power system has quickly changed. Fault detection and removal is performed more accurately and at quicker response time, and non-inertia driven loads have been added. This means stability must continue to be a main topic of concern to maintain a stable synchronized grid. In this thesis a lab was designed, constructed, and tested for the purpose of studying transient stability in power systems.
