Doubly Fed Induction Generators (DFIGs) are typically used in large scale (three to five Megawatt) wind turbines because they can be operated over a wide range of wind speeds, have flexible control systems, power electronics need only pass about 30% of the generator power, and the windmill experiences fewer mechanical stresses. This project is to construct the control system for a DFIG. This control system will be used to test the feasibility of using a DFIG on a small-scale wind turbine.
