A Simple Project Paradigm For Teaching Computer Architecture, Yul Chu

Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Publications and Presentations

This paper presents a teaching method for a possible computer architect by using a simple DCT project for an undergraduate-level computer architecture course. The goal of the project is to let students (two or three students per team) understand the concept of computer hardware and how to design a simple RISC-type 32-bit Instruction Set Architecture (ISA). The project consists of three different tasks: 1) D (Design) - Designing a processor at the abstract level; 2) C (Code) - Writing a simulation program for the ISA; and 3) T (Test) - Running a test program to verify each function of computer …

The Optimization Of Amplifiers For Uwb Applications, Kyoung D. Kim

Theses and Dissertations - UTB/UTPA

Optimizations of 0.18 μm and 0.5 μm MOSFET amplifiers without using inductors for UWB applications are presented. A 3 dB bandwidth from 3.1 GHz to 9.9 GHz with minimum 9.6 dB of transducer gain at 10.6 GHz and approximate 92.8 mWatts of total power consumption are achieved. The source and load impedances were 50 ohms. Also, the number of capacitors and resistors has been minimized. To predict characteristics more precisely, the pad capacitance is added to the output port. In addition, a different feedback topology is presented which gives a lower Noise Figure with maximum 7.73 dB at 10.6 GHz …
