Design Of A Machine Vision Camera For Spatial Augmented Reality, Matt Phillip Ruffner
Design Of A Machine Vision Camera For Spatial Augmented Reality, Matt Phillip Ruffner
Theses and Dissertations--Electrical and Computer Engineering
Structured Light Imaging (SLI) is a means of digital reconstruction, or Three-Dimensional (3D) scanning, and has uses that span many disciplines. A projector, camera and Personal Computer (PC) are required to perform such 3D scans. Slight variances in synchronization between these three devices can cause malfunctions in the process due to the limitations of PC graphics processors as real-time systems. Previous work used a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) to both drive the projector and trigger the camera, eliminating these timing issues, but still needing an external camera. This thesis proposes the incorporation of the camera with the FPGA SLI …
Incorporating Machine Vision In Precision Dairy Farming Technologies, Anthony N. Shelley
Incorporating Machine Vision In Precision Dairy Farming Technologies, Anthony N. Shelley
Theses and Dissertations--Electrical and Computer Engineering
The inclusion of precision dairy farming technologies in dairy operations is an area of increasing research and industry direction. Machine vision based systems are suitable for the dairy environment as they do not inhibit workflow, are capable of continuous operation, and can be fully automated. The research of this dissertation developed and tested 3 machine vision based precision dairy farming technologies tailored to the latest generation of RGB+D cameras. The first system focused on testing various imaging approaches for the potential use of machine vision for automated dairy cow feed intake monitoring. The second system focused on monitoring the gradual …
Monitoring Dairy Cow Feed Intake Using Machine Vision, Anthony N. Shelley
Monitoring Dairy Cow Feed Intake Using Machine Vision, Anthony N. Shelley
Theses and Dissertations--Electrical and Computer Engineering
The health and productive output of dairy cows can be closely correlated to individual cow feed intake. Being able to monitor feed intake on a daily basis is beneficial dairy farm management. Each cow can be addressed individually with minimal time required from those working with the animals. This is essential as time management is closely tied to resource management in a dairy operation. Anything that can save time and resources and increase profitability and herd health is a paramount advantage in dairy farming. This study examined the use of machine vision structured light illumination three-dimensional scanning of cow feed …
Vision Based Real-Time Monitoring And Control Of Metal Transfer In Laser Enhanced Gas Metal, Yan Shao
Vision Based Real-Time Monitoring And Control Of Metal Transfer In Laser Enhanced Gas Metal, Yan Shao
Theses and Dissertations--Electrical and Computer Engineering
Laser enhanced gas metal arc welding (GMAW) is a novel welding process where a laser is applied to provide an auxiliary detaching force to help detach the droplet such that welds may be made in gas tungsten arc welding high quality at GMAW high speeds. The current needed to generate the electromagnetic (detaching) force is thus reduced. The reduction in the current helps reduce the impact on the weld pool and over-heat fumes/smokes. However, in the previous studies, a continuous laser is applied. Since the auxiliary is only needed each time the droplet needs to be detached and the detachment …
