Resonance Damping Of Lcl Filters Using Capacitor-Current Proportional-Integral Positive Feedback Method For Grid-Integrated Fuel Cell System, Majid Hosseinpour, Amin Kholousi

Emirates Journal for Engineering Research

Nowadays, the use of grid-integrated inverter proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) systems is becoming more prevalent due to their efficiency and favorable environmental effects. Switching the grid-connected inverters causes high-frequency harmonics, which are eliminated using LCL filters. These filters are susceptible to instability when their resonant frequency is affected by changes in network impedance. Active damping methods are used to weaken the resonance of LCL filters. However, the grid-connected inverter is prone to be unstable under grid impedance variations due to the negative equivalent resistance resulting by digital control delays. As a solution to this problem, the capacitor-current proportional-integral …

Emirates Journal for Engineering Research

The goal of this paper is to improve the detection performance and the false alarm regulation of the conventional order statistics Constant False Alarm Rate (OS-CFAR) detectors in a non-homogeneous Gaussian environment. To this end, we design and study the New Sorting Weighting (NSW-) and the Modified Sorting Weighting (MSW-) CFAR detectors. We find closed forms of the detection ( ) and the false alarm ( ) probabilities for both detectors. Moreover, we identify the optimum pairs of weights that maximize the and ensure a constant . Finally, we prove through Monte Carlo simulations that these detectors provide better detection …

Theses

The primary objective of this thesis is to develop innovative techniques for the inspection and maintenance of aircraft structures. We aim to streamline the entire process by utilizing images to detect potential defects in the aircraft body and comparing them to properly functioning images of the aircraft. This enables us to determine whether a specific section of the aircraft is faulty or not. We achieve this by employing image processing to train a model capable of identifying faulty images. The image processing methodology we use involves the use of images of both defective and operational parts of the aircraft's exterior. …

Recycling Of Cured Carbon Fiber/Epoxy Resin Laminated Composites Scraps: Processing And Characterization, Khaled Mohammed Al Harmoodi

Theses

The concept of reinforced composites came decades ago from the need to fabricate high-strength, heat-resistant, wear-resistant, and low-density materials. The polymer matrix composites offer a wide range of applications due to the collaborative nature of the functional fillers and polymers present. Towards the twenty-first century, the aviation industry flourished due to flying being the preferred way of travel across states and countries. With such a massive demand for air transport, there is an equally parallel demand for the production of aircraft components. This study aims to reuse the waste of uncured composite prepreg scraps from the ply-cutting manufacturing process in …

Disturbance-Observer Based Control For Pwm Rectifiers Without Dc Voltage Oscillations Under Unbalanced Grid Conditions, Mohammed Samer Al-Razehi Nov 2022

Disturbance-Observer Based Control For Pwm Rectifiers Without Dc Voltage Oscillations Under Unbalanced Grid Conditions, Mohammed Samer Al-Razehi

Theses

A three-phase controlled rectifier is a power electronic converter that employs the grid voltages as an input to produce a constant dc voltage at its output through the use of a capacitor, known as dc-link capacitor. However, the switching devices of power converters can create harmonics in the grid current, which mandates the need for filters to ensure high-quality grid current. This explains why the power converter is normally connected to the grid using passive filters such as L filter or LCL filter. The L filter is normally preferred over LCL filter to reduce harmonic distortions in grid currents as …

Analysis And Design Of A Soft Switching Z-Source Boost Dc-Dc Converter, Mahdi Rezvanyvardom, Amin Mirzaei

Emirates Journal for Engineering Research

This paper proposes a high step-up fully soft switched Z-source Boost DC-DC converter, which uses two resonant paths to create soft switching conditions for switches and diodes and also increases the voltage gain. The proposed converter only has one switch, so it has a simple structure. Furthermore, its control circuit remains pulse width modulation. Since soft switching conditions are provided for all switching elements, the converter efficiency is very high. This converter also has all advantages of Z-source converters. The converter is analyzed and simulated in PSPICE software. The results confirm the aforementioned advantages and features of the proposed converter
