H-Plane Siw Horn Antenna With Enhanced Front-To-Back Ratio For 5g Applications, Özlem Akgün, Nurhan Türker Tokan

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Millimeter-wave (mmWave) antennas are indispensable components in the fifth-generation (5G) wireless communication systems. With the inherent advantages of integration capability, substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) antenna is an excellent choice for applications in the mmWave frequency bands. However, reflection losses occur at dielectric-filled thin apertures of SIW antennas. These reflections can be overcome by impedance matching between the aperture and the free space. In this study, we introduce an mmWave SIW horn antenna having impedance matching transitions (IMTs) across the horn's aperture width. The designed antenna, operating in the 24-28 GHz band, is simulated with a full-wave analysis tool. The simulation …

The Effects Of The Dielectric Substrate Thickness And The Loss Tangent On The Absorption Spectrum: A Comprehensive Study Considering The Resonance Type, The Ground Plane Coupling, And The Characterization Setup, Umut Köse, Evren Ekmekçi̇

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

In this study, the effects of dielectric substrate thickness and the dielectric loss tangent on the absorption spectrum are investigated parametrically in S-band. The study has been conducted on two different absorber topologies, one is closed ring resonator (CRR) and the other is composed of a split ring resonator (SRR), to observe the effects on both LC - and dipole-type resonances. The studies on the substrate thickness have been performed both numerically and experimentally, whereas the studies on the dielectric loss tangent have been performed numerically. The results agree with the literature such that the substrate thickness has significant effects …

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

A metal mountable UHF RFID tag antenna with a low-profile folded dipole structure is proposed. It is fabricated on a single layer of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) dielectric laminate. It is composed of two symmetrical C-shape resonators integrated with the outer strip lines. The IC chip's terminals are connected directly to the center of the C-shaped resonators. The outer strip lines are integrated with the C-shaped resonators, which function to lower the reflection coefficient so as to match the IC chip impedance. In particular, the outer strip lines increase the inductive reactance of the antenna impedance in order to realize IC chip …

Evaluation Of Losses In A Secondary-Side Controlled Wireless Battery Charging System, Fahri̇ Gürbüz, Tolga Sürgevi̇l, Mutlu Boztepe Jan 2019

Evaluation Of Losses In A Secondary-Side Controlled Wireless Battery Charging System, Fahri̇ Gürbüz, Tolga Sürgevi̇l, Mutlu Boztepe

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Secondary-side controlled inductive power transfer (IPT) systems are easy to control compared to primary and dual-side control methods, and more importantly, they do not require wireless communication between primary and secondary sides. In this paper, a wireless battery charging system based on secondary-side controlled IPT is analyzed and presented in detail. The proposed control method relies on the detection of the secondary coil current and the transferred power can be fully controlled by the secondary-side active rectifier with reduced number of power switching devices. The steady-state performance of the IPT system is evaluated using a fundamental harmonic analysis method for …

Development Of Radiometer Operating Between 50 Mhz And 26.5 Ghz Using Gain-Stabilized Lna, Murat Celep, Şenel Yaran, Cem Hayirli, Ari̇f Dolma

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

A radiometer operating between 50 MHz and 26.5 GHz and consisting of microwave channels all with a low-noise amplifier (LNA) was established. Microwave switches were used to select an appropriate channel according to measurement frequency. The effect of variations both in input and output reflection coefficients on LNA gain was investigated. To keep the change in the gain of the LNA at minimum, the LNA output was terminated with a load whose impedance was equal to that of matched load. This technique gives the opportunity of full-band noise measurements of noise sources with one total power radiometer. The performance of …
