A Comprehensive Survey For Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring, Efe İsa Tezde, Eray Yildiz

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Energy-saving and efficiency are as important as benefiting from new energy sources to supply increasing energy demand globally. Energy demand and resources for energy saving should be managed effectively. Therefore, electrical loads need to be monitored and controlled. Demand-side energy management plays a vital role in achieving this objective. Energy management systems schedule an optimal operation program for these loads by obtaining more accurate and precise residential and commercial loads information. Different intellegent measurement applications and machine learning algorithms have been proposed for the measurement and control of electrical devices/loads used in buildings. Of these, nonintrusive load monitoring (NILM) is …

Stochastic Day-Ahead Optimal Scheduling Of Multimicrogrids: An Alternating Direction Method Of Multipliers (Admm) Approach, Amin Safari, Hossein Nasiraghdam May 2022

Stochastic Day-Ahead Optimal Scheduling Of Multimicrogrids: An Alternating Direction Method Of Multipliers (Admm) Approach, Amin Safari, Hossein Nasiraghdam

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Multimicrogrid system is a novel notion in modern power systems as a result of developing renewable-based generation units and accordingly microgrids in distribution networks. Their energy management might be challenging due to presence of independent units. Thus, in this paper, a decentralized method for energy management of multimicrogrid systems has been proposed. Decentralized methods can enhance the privacy of users and reduce the burden of calculations. Alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) is selected as a decentralized approach which has the capability of breaking problems with complicating constraints in order to facilitate the solving process. Using decentralized approach not only …

Reconfiguration-Based Hierarchical Energy Management In Multimicrogrid Systems Considering Power Losses, Reliability Index, And Voltage Enhancement, Farid Hamzeh Aghdam, Navid Taghizadegan Kalantari, Sajad Najafi Ravadanegh Jan 2020

Reconfiguration-Based Hierarchical Energy Management In Multimicrogrid Systems Considering Power Losses, Reliability Index, And Voltage Enhancement, Farid Hamzeh Aghdam, Navid Taghizadegan Kalantari, Sajad Najafi Ravadanegh

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This paper presents a reconfiguration-based hierarchical energy management for interconnected microgrids known as multimicrogrid system. The goal is to minimize the operational costs of different entities alongside with finding the best topology to minimize the active power loss, enhance reliability index, and improve the voltage level. The distribution network (DN) includes several dispatchable and undispatchable distributed energy resources, energy storage devices, and multiple microgrids (MGs). The first layer of the optimization process is executed by each MG operator and each MG performs local energy management. Each MG operator informs the DN operator about its optimal schedules. Finally, global energy management …

Management Of A Hybrid Renewable Power Plant Supplying An Isolated Rural Load Within A Changing Environment, Hichem Azli, Mohamed Mostefai Jan 2018

Management Of A Hybrid Renewable Power Plant Supplying An Isolated Rural Load Within A Changing Environment, Hichem Azli, Mohamed Mostefai

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Often, authors deal with the sizing issue of hybrid power plants on horizons of several years. Proposed approaches are certainly essential to optimize energy costs. However, these solutions cannot remain optimal throughout the life cycle of the plant due to the inevitable evolution of the number of households, their consumption profiles, and possible degradation of a part of the plant. In this paper, an efficient management strategy of a sized hybrid renewable system is developed. It is based on the scheduling of the different resources of the plant. The main aim is to minimize the generated energy cost while ensuring …

Naive Forecasting Of Household Natural Gas Consumption With Sliding Window Approach, Mustafa Akpinar, Nejat Yumuşak Jan 2017

Naive Forecasting Of Household Natural Gas Consumption With Sliding Window Approach, Mustafa Akpinar, Nejat Yumuşak

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Household consumption has a significant importance for natural gas wholesale companies. These companies make one-day-ahead forecasting daily. However, there are penalties depending on the error of the estimates. These penalties increase exponentially depending on the error rate. Several studies have been done to develop mathematical models to forecast natural gas consumption and minimize the error rate. However, before mathematical model predictions, a previous step, data preparation, is also important. The data must be prepared correctly before the mathematical model. At this point, prior to the mathematical model, selecting the appropriate data set size has a vital role. In this study, …

Implementation Of Energy Management And Demand Side Management Of A Solar Microgrid Using A Hybrid Platform, Leo Raju, Milton Sakaya, Senthilkumaran Mahadevan Jan 2017

Implementation Of Energy Management And Demand Side Management Of A Solar Microgrid Using A Hybrid Platform, Leo Raju, Milton Sakaya, Senthilkumaran Mahadevan

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This paper presents the implementation of the advanced distributed energy management and demand side management of a solar microgrid by a multiagent system (MAS) coordination approach. The proposed approach is built upon a hybrid platform in which a solar microgrid, modelled in MATLAB/Simulink, is controlled by a MAS implemented in Java Agent Development Framework (JADE), bringing the MAS closer to the real-time application. Novel control strategies are designed to implement all the smart grid features in the microgrid. The Simulink model is controlled by strategic action of agents in JADE, a multithreaded computing platform, through a middleware, multiagent control using …

Energy Management Of Solar Car In Circuit Race, Erkan Atmaca Jan 2015

Energy Management Of Solar Car In Circuit Race, Erkan Atmaca

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This study develops an optimal driving strategy for solar car on a track with nonzero gradients and sharp corners. This strategy consists of finding the racing line and the speed profile that minimizes the lap time with a given amount of energy. The problem is formulated in proper form for a commercial nonlinear optimization software program. The track is modeled into segments identified by their spatial coordinates on its own surface. The speed-distance behavior of the vehicle is linearized at each segment. The constraints set by the brushless DC motor, battery, and circuit are formulated accordingly. This is the motor …
