Narrow-Band Interference Rejection In Spread Spectrum Using An Eigen Analysis Based Approach, Aparna Vadhri May 1994

Narrow-Band Interference Rejection In Spread Spectrum Using An Eigen Analysis Based Approach, Aparna Vadhri

Theses

A new adaptive technique is suggested for rejecting narrow-band interferences in spread spectrum communications. When data is coded using a pseudo-noise code, the received signal consists of a wide-band signal with almost white spectral properties, thermal noise, and correlated narrow-band interferences. A new approach is proposed which exploits the statistical properties of the received signal via eigenanalysis of the received data. While the energy of the wide-band signal is distributed over all the eigenvalues of the signal autocorrelation matrix, the energy of the interference is concentrated in a few large eigenvalues. Hence, the eigenvectors corresponding to the large eigenvalues are …

Comparative Analysis Of Single And Double Dwell Acquisition Schemes, Gurinder Singh Ahluwalia Aug 1990

Comparative Analysis Of Single And Double Dwell Acquisition Schemes, Gurinder Singh Ahluwalia

Theses

Single and double dwell pseudonoise (PN) acquisition systems are described, explained and analyzed. These systems are designed to synchronize a locally generated PN signal with a received PN signal of unknown phase in the presence of noise. The mean, variance and an approximate probability distribution function (PDF) of the acquisition time for the single and double dwell PN acquisition schemes is developed. Intuitively, the double dwell acquisition system should be superior to the single dwell system because of the ability to quickly dismiss incorrect cells and further verify probable hits. It is shown analytically that this is in fact true …

The Acquisition Of Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Communication Systems, Anthony Donald Demeri May 1986

The Acquisition Of Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Communication Systems, Anthony Donald Demeri

Theses

This Paper surveys different techniques of acquiring Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Systems.

It classifies different systems, indicates the strongpoints and weakness of each, along with some applications.

One method, The Single Dwell Serial PN Acquisition System is then focused on in detail. The detail includes analysis of standard version, derivation of the mean time to acquire, the variance, the probability of detection and the probability of a false alarm.

In the last section of the paper the analytical results of the Single Dwell Serial PN Acquisition System shall be confirmed by computer simulation.
