Determination Of Whole-Body Specific Absorption Rate (Sar) And Characterization Of Ferris Wheel Radio Frequency (Rf) Exposure System Using Calorimetric Techniques, Subbarao V. Chebrolu
FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The "Ferris Wheel" RE Exposure System was designed by Motorola Inc. to study the long-term biological effects due to RE exposure [3]. The main goal of this research project was to characterize the "Ferris Wheel" to know how efficient and symmetrical was the exposure system in distributing the RE power among its loads. The characterization of the system was done in terms of power efficiency, SAR, Whole-Body SAR and Localized SAR.
Exposure to RF sources is quantified in terms of SAR which defines the rate of electromagnetic deposition per unit mass. Determination of Whole-Body averaged SAR requires to have the …
Analysis Of Coaxial Fed U-Slot Patch Antennas Using Finite Difference Time Domain Method, Chandrasekhar Cherukuri
Analysis Of Coaxial Fed U-Slot Patch Antennas Using Finite Difference Time Domain Method, Chandrasekhar Cherukuri
FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The objective of this thesis was to analyze a Coaxial-Fed U-slot Rectangular Patch Antenna using Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method. Important parameters such as S-parameters and Input Impedance of the antenna were simulated using XFDTD software and were analyzed. An important goal of this thesis was to provide design information about the U-slot antenna. For this purpose the effects of antenna layout on the resonant frequency and the bandwidth of the antenna were investigated. First the effect of varying slot width on the S-parameters, Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) and Input Impedance were studied. Next the length of the …
Fabrication Considerations Of A Superconducting Transmission Line Microelectromechanical Switch, Alfredo Arturo Corrales
Fabrication Considerations Of A Superconducting Transmission Line Microelectromechanical Switch, Alfredo Arturo Corrales
FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Developing technologies have always faced the same problems. New applications require smaller systems, must consume less power, and provide greater sensitivity than what is currently available. This thesis provides crucial data for the manufacturing of a microelectromechanical (MEM) switch on a superconducting transmission line. New applications of front-end antennas require small, low-loss switches. MEM switches have shown insertion losses less than 0.1 dB and isolation of 50 dB at RF frequencies. Superconducting transmission lines can provide circuits with extremely low attenuation. The combination of the two can provide the best system for the need of these new applications. This thesis …
