The Sonoma Developmental Center Redevelopment Project: A Stakeholder Salience And Conflict Analysis Case Study, Leo Dickson Jun 2023

The Sonoma Developmental Center Redevelopment Project: A Stakeholder Salience And Conflict Analysis Case Study, Leo Dickson

Construction Management

This analytical case study is an experimental exploration into the utilization of stakeholder salience research to analyze land redevelopment projects from a managerial perspective. The study attempted to develop and apply a simple and approachable research model to a real redevelopment project. The research design is derived from an existing mathematical model designed to quantitatively measure stakeholder salience. Stakeholder salience theory and Pawlak’s conflict theory are the fundamental concepts used to create the research design model. The objective of this research was to assess its effectiveness when applied to a rural land redevelopment setting in the United States. The Sonoma …

Development Of A Topics Course For Construction Law, Julia C. Hoever Dec 2021

Development Of A Topics Course For Construction Law, Julia C. Hoever

Construction Management

The Cal Poly Construction Management program is designed to prepare students heading into the construction industry for daily management tasks. With construction comes many legal aspects integrated into a project’s operations. Though the curriculum includes a contract law course, a gap exists with a minimal number of classes that address the array of legal matters the construction industry must be versed in. Working with faculty member, Thomas Kommer, J.D., there is a need for a course that expands on these varying legal topics. In order to determine the specific topics that would impactfully benefit and educate Cal Poly Construction Management …

The Benefits Of Utilizing Qr Codes On Construction Jobsites To Conduct Punch, Jack Richard Stryker Dec 2021

The Benefits Of Utilizing Qr Codes On Construction Jobsites To Conduct Punch, Jack Richard Stryker

Construction Management

The punch process of construction is an important task that a construction project team is faced with before a project reaches final completion. A punch list documents and tracks items that need to be corrected, repaired, or are incomplete. If not closely managed, open punch items can drag out the completion of a project, and is often seen as a tedious task for project engineers. The industry has not seen much change as to how this process is conducted until recent advancements in construction software. This paper will take a deeper look into the benefits seen from utilizing Procore’s location-based …

The Relationships Between Personality Types And Project Management Team Satisfaction, Patrick Moran Jun 2021

The Relationships Between Personality Types And Project Management Team Satisfaction, Patrick Moran

Construction Management

This research studies the relationships between personality types in Project Managers and Project Engineers and how they relate to project team satisfaction. Goals this research set out to accomplish include: finding relationships between personality types and team satisfaction, determining if heterogeneous or homogeneous team compositions yield greater levels of satisfaction, and determining if certain personality types influence team satisfaction more than others. In order to answer these goals, a specific study was conducted comparing two project teams composed of PMs and PEs. These teams were instructed to complete the NERIS Type Explorer® along with a Likert Scale questionnaire to self-assess …

Implementation Of A 4d Schedule As A Project Communication Tool, Jared Jacobs Jun 2021

Implementation Of A 4d Schedule As A Project Communication Tool, Jared Jacobs

Construction Management

This report details the project that was completed to produce a preliminary 4D Schedule for the Alma Clark Glass Residence Hall on Western Washington University’s campus. A 4D schedule combines the 3D model of the building and the project schedule and ultimately shows the sequence of construction. The main objective of this project is to explore areas for improved communication strategies within the project team. A 4D schedule provides an added dimension of communication that has the potential, if delivered effectively, to clearly define construction milestones and sequences for an owner to understand. The goal of this project is to …

Process Of Adopting And Implementing Bim Technology: A Case Study, Andy J. Stone Jun 2019

Process Of Adopting And Implementing Bim Technology: A Case Study, Andy J. Stone

Construction Management

On any relatively large construction project, coordination between stakeholders, project managers, superintendents, subcontractors or any other entity becomes vitally important to the project’s success. Building Information Modeling (BIM) creates a virtual design model of a building, which helps construction managers increase efficiency in terms of cost, schedule and overall quality. By connecting 3-D models to coordination and clash detection software’s, construction managers can solve issues quicker or prevent them from happening in the first place. This case study aims to analyze the implementation and use of BIM technology by Shawmut Design and Construction. This study will also focus on the …
