Implementation Of Bluebeam To The Fundamentals Of Construction Management Course, Kirk Arena Dec 2020

Implementation Of Bluebeam To The Fundamentals Of Construction Management Course, Kirk Arena

Construction Management

This project based senior project was brought about by Paul Weber and Matty Reed and was originally intended to take the paper-based binders from the Fundamentals to Construction Management course and organize these binders in Bluebeam. Bluebeam is an industry standard for nearly all construction projects, and an early adoption of the software could allow students to familiarize themselves with a tool that they will use after college or during internships. After deliberating with Paul, we concluded that we could better educate students by creating exercises that allow students to learn the tools available in Bluebeam through interactions in the …

Construction Of A Sustainable High-Tech Greenhouse, Miguel A. Sadler Jun 2020

Construction Of A Sustainable High-Tech Greenhouse, Miguel A. Sadler

Construction Management

The purpose of this project is to assess the feasibility for farmers to upgrade from conventional farming methods to using sustainable, high-tech greenhouses. For all intensive purposes, the values presented in this paper are based off the assumption that a farmer already owns their land and can use this paper as a reference to see what it would look like if they wanted to make the upgrade to high-tech greenhouses. To assess the viability of this project my partner and I set out to complete all the preconstruction activities that a project team would need to complete for a potential …

Effectiveness Of Building Information Modeling In Existing Structure Construction Compared To New Structure Construction, Anthony Aaron Bellanti Jun 2020

Effectiveness Of Building Information Modeling In Existing Structure Construction Compared To New Structure Construction, Anthony Aaron Bellanti

Construction Management

Over the last decade Building Information Modeling has become a crucial aspect of the construction project for larger construction firms in the United States. BIM has many different facets and can be used to effectively manage construction projects in various ways. Modeling a structure in a virtual setting in preconstruction allows for adequate preparedness for the construction process and has been shown to be effective, on a broad scale, to reduce cost, compress schedules, and allow for a more fluid construction process overall. The goal of this paper is to look more closely at BIM and its effectiveness on existing …

The Relationship Between Bim And Electrical Prefabrication, Donald J. Lipsey Jun 2020

The Relationship Between Bim And Electrical Prefabrication, Donald J. Lipsey

Construction Management

Recently, with the help of Building Information Modeling, prefabrication has become popular amongst electrical subcontractors. This report dives further into the relationship of the two counterparts and analyzes what allows the relationship to be successful. Currently, little information has been published regarding how Building Information Modeling and electrical prefabrication play off of each other. This report serves to provide information to electrical subcontractors that are either looking to start prefabricating or further their prefabrication methods. Analytical methods used consist of online research combined with interviews from three different people at three different electrical subcontracting firms. All interviewees hold different job …

Bim Immersion Cube, Cory Krok

Construction Management

The construction industry has become one of the largest professions to struggle with effectively implementing technology. As the industry heads into the future, more and more technology will be needed to increase efficiency and reduce cost. Cal Poly, one of the leading universities for industry recruitment, needs to teach the new generation of builders to be able to implement BIM/VDC into the industry. In this project called the BIM Cube, the overall goal is to give Cal Poly students a better understanding of model coordination and clash detection. This paper outlines the preconstruction services required for the eventual construction of …

Integration Of Bim Management Into Custom Residential Construction, Cruz Calderhead Mar 2020

Integration Of Bim Management Into Custom Residential Construction, Cruz Calderhead

Construction Management

The custom residential sector of construction currently lacks the usage of BIM management tools. This paper looks to research the current usage, advantages, and disadvantages of using BIM management software’s within custom residential construction. There will be a comparative case study held between two custom residential contractors, one with minor BIM usage and one who has fully integrated BIM software into their management procedure. The goal is to find out if BIM management is cost-effective and scalable to the custom residential industry. This information will be beneficial to the custom residential industry because it will provide custom residential general contractors …
