Evaluation Of Flood Damage On Cross Laminated Timber Wall Configurations, Mustafa Nezih Kaya Aug 2022

Evaluation Of Flood Damage On Cross Laminated Timber Wall Configurations, Mustafa Nezih Kaya

Theses and Dissertations

Greenhouse gas emissions are one of the critical factors that affect climate change, increasing flooding risk and threatening human life. The use of traditional construction materials is responsible for a higher percentage of global greenhouse gas emissions when compared to the use of sustainable materials in the construction industry. The substitution of current building materials with sustainable materials is essential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and positively influence climate change when the current construction demand in the world is considered. Wood is one of the primary environmentally friendly construction materials in regard to high carbon storage and low carbon emissions. …

Investigating The Time-Dependent And The Mechanical Behavior Of Wood Plastic Composite Lumber Made From Thermally Modified Wood In The Use Of Marine Aquacultural Structures, Murtada A. Alrubaie May 2019

Investigating The Time-Dependent And The Mechanical Behavior Of Wood Plastic Composite Lumber Made From Thermally Modified Wood In The Use Of Marine Aquacultural Structures, Murtada A. Alrubaie

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) lumber based on a patent-pending formulation is being explored for use in the manufacture of an aquaculture fish cage structure (Aquapod net pen cage), as an alternative to the current high density polyethylene (HDPE) lumber. The use of WPC lumber in structural applications in marine environments requires a comprehensive effort to understand the material viscoelastic behavior and the structural performance of the WPC lumber in marine environments where the WPC lumber is exposed to the combined effect of saltwater immersion and temperature (hygrothermal). The evaluation of the viscoelastic behavior of WPC lumber in marine environments was …

Major: Civil Engineering

Degree: Master of Science

Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) is an advanced composite material that has been employed efficiently to rehabilitate deteriorated concrete structures. Environmental factors, however, affect the durability performance of FRP. As bond at the interfacial region between FRP and concrete is essential to the overall integrity of the system, the focus of this thesis is on bond deterioration due to hot weathering conditions.

In this study, an experimental program was developed to investigate the …
