A comprehensive measure of the in-flight stability of an aircraft is essential, though it can take a large amount of resources to do accurately and usefully. Small companies and colleges often don't have the resources to attain accurate experimental or analytical data to describe stable flight before potential failure. Flow separation causes aircraft to experience an increase in drag degrading their aviation performance. The goal of the study was to delay flow separation on an airfoil by embedding a high-frequency translational piezoelectric actuator along the surface of the airfoil. This study investigated the extent to which the high-frequency translational piezoelectric actuator displaces the flow separation downstream or prevents it altogether utilizing a fog-based flow visualization experiment. Beginning in 2018, the AIAA began the workshop for integrated propeller prediction. This effort was intended to bolster the CFD prediction capabilities of the aerospace community due to a resurgent interest in propeller driven vehicles for electric applications. The test bed for this workshop is the NASA X-57, a model of which was experimentally tested in the Lockheed Martin Low Speed Wind Tunnel in January 2019. Using the 3D scanned geometry provided by the workshop a mesh was created and all priority one simulations were performed using two flow solvers. A three-dimensional model of a one-story residential home, with an emphasis on the roof style and structure, was modeled using CATIA and then built and tested in the wind tunnel at Western Michigan University. The wind tunnel allowed an airflow over different style roofs to be tested at 100 mile per hour winds, strengths typical for hurricanes and other natural phenomena. The measured results show the lift and drag, along with the pressure gradient and the skin friction over the roofs. The effect of these aerodynamic characteristics of the building due to adding solar panel prototypes were also evaluated. The …
