With the focus on student achievement, nationwide attempts are being made to improve schools and school systems. In these reforms teachers are the single most important factor (Darling- Hammond 1997; Wilson, Floden, and Ferrini-Mundy 2001). Teacher preparation programs have a unique opportunity and responsibility, therefore, to have a significant impact on teacher quality. Central to the ability to do so is a comprehensive understanding of what factors constitute teacher quality.

Home education, also known colloquially as home schooling, has been on the rise for the past two decades. Estimates of the number home educated students range from 1.7% to 3% of the student population (Blok, 2003). It has gained legitimacy as noted by its evolution from being prohibited in 30 states in 1980 to now being legal in all fifty states (Blok, 2003). Probably the greatest sign of this new legitimacy is its general acceptance and positive coverage in the media where home education is presented as a viable alternative to traditional schooling. This paper discusses various issues and challenges facing philanthropy and nonprofit organizations in the United States of America. The writer believes that effective grant writing abilities are necessary for leaders in higher education and those who posses these skills will be able to lead more efficiently. The paper will present effective fundraising strategies and discuss management techniques employed by veterans in the nonprofit sector. Additionally, descriptions of each of the nine major areas associated with foundation funding are summarized, and certain grantsmanship practices are highlighted. Finally, this paper will discuss seven basic components necessary for writing a successful grant proposal.

Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to evaluate how well teachers’ attitudes predict levels of technology integration into the classroom. This study also investigated whether perceived support from the administrator as the instructional leader was related to teachers’ levels of technology integration into the classroom. The population for this study included identified school districts in rural North Georgia. In 1990 a new idea swept through the educational industry. Forty-nine school districts in Pennsylvania instituted a new form of organizational management called clinical supervision. In effect, this was a change in the relationship between administration and teachers concerning instructional behaviors.
