The purpose of this phenomenological study was to describe, based on the teaching presence component of the Community of Inquiry (CoI) theoretical framework, the lived experiences of mathematics instructors while establishing teaching presence in online higher education mathematics courses. Despite the popularity of Facebook amongst students and teachers for personal use, the problem is a lack of understanding of how high school teachers use Facebook for instructional purposes to promote learner-learner and learner-instructor interactions.
