This study is concerned exclusively with offensive and defensive leg wrestling. The maneuvers included in such an instructional film should have a wide enough range to be used in a high school physical education program or in varsity college wrestling. The problems of this study were first, to determine the moves, counters, and drills used in effective leg wrestling that were taught by leading coaches, and second, to present these moves, counters, and drills in action film with a comprehensive printed description and analysis of these moves.

The purpose of this project was to develop and produce a sixteen millimeter motion picture, in color, that will aid in the instruction of the phase of amateur wrestling known as takedowns and their counter movements.
