The policies of the environment-based education movement are benefiting teachers and students participating in several model programs operating in the United States. Place-centered learning enhances the interdisciplinary practice of Essential Academic Learning Requirements, and actively engages students in local issues. The study of cultural landscapes encourages a sense of place within the Lower Columbia River Gorge, and fosters student connections with the Dalles Mountain Ranch. Policy recommendations are made for environment-based learning in Washington State's public schools. The problem was to gather data on each specific item and present it in a usable manner. The purpose of this study was to determine the weaknesses that could be identified by comparing the quantitative elements of the media programs available in the individual school with evaluative criteria provided by the requirements and recommendations of state and national media standards.

This study compares the golf skills of a class viewing its own videotape replays to those of a class who was videotaped but did not view the replays. All other relevant variables were equalized between the two groups. In addition, a test was made of the attitudes of the experimental group toward videotape as a learning aid, and finally, an attempt was made to reduce the number of trials necessary in the post-test, in order to make the test more functional.

It was the purpose of this study to produce eight millimeter (8mm) cartridge films to illustrate for the beginning instrumentalist the proper procedures to follow in caring for his instrument. The study endeavored to prove that 8mm cartridge films provide a valuable means of individualizing instruction in instrumental music. For the purpose of this study, six cartridge films and study guides were produced. This series was then evaluated by a panel of instrumental music teachers.

A study to determine if teacher-trainees who view a videotape replay of themselves practicing specific teaching skills prior to receiving an analysis of their lesson will score significantly higher on a specially designed rating instrument than trainees who practice the same skills but receive no videotape-replay and must rely on their ability to recall a mental image as they receive an analysis of their lesson.
