Self-talk alters mental toughness, emotional control, and behavioral reactions, and can affect an athlete’s cognitive and psychological condition throughout training, competition, and practice. Firefighters (FF) face a higher risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) due to aging, job-related stress, and irregular physical activity. Years of experience (YXP) in the fire service have been shown to have a unique impact on FF health and performance; however, profiling the differences between those with less or more YXP has not yet been assessed. Background: This study aimed to examine the dose-response relationship between training load and aspects of physical fitness in English Premier League (EPL) U23 soccer players. Materials and Methods: Seven male EPL U23 outfield soccer players (age 20.1±1.1 years) participated in this study and performed the Bronco test on five occasions within one season. Individualised running thresholds were employed using maximal aerobic speed (MAS), anaerobic speed reserve (ASR) and maximal sprint speed (MSS) values utilising a GPS system. Yoga is a part of complementary and alternative medicine aimed at improving overall physical well-being. Yoga is a relatively new treatment approach often used in evidence-based exercise practice. However, more research is needed to explore the effects of different dosages and the timing of measurements after intake. Much of the literature on marathon pacing is based on flat courses often neglecting the impact of terrain. Runners are often advised to run an even effort throughout a marathon, but it is difficult to establish optimal paces for a hilly race like the Boston Marathon. Weight belts and lifting straps are frequently worn when performing deadlifts for their ergogenic advantages, but no prior research has examined their effects. Purpose: The pilot study investigated the effects of weight belts and lifting straps on deadlift performance variables. Nitrate-rich beetroot juice may have more pronounced ergogenic effects on exercise that requires high-power and high-velocity muscle contraction; however, the efficacy of, and the optimal dosing for nitrate to enhance resistance exercise performance is unknown. PURPOSE: To assess whether nitrate elicits dose-dependent ergogenic effects during a battery of resistance exercises in resistance-trained men. Recently blue light exposure at night has received negative attention due to its ability to interrupt the sleep-wake cycle through reducing melatonin production and increasing alertness. Identifying ideal ranges of training load (TL) and recovery status before soccer games is essential to maximize game-day performance. The aim of this study was to present the characteristics of the actions efficiency in elite goalkeepers. 54 observations of 25 goalkeepers participating in 27 matches of the World and the European Championships and the Africa Cup of Nations and Copa America held in the years 2014–2019 were included. The study applied a method of observation. Game data were registered on a self-developed observation sheet. Goalkeepers’ activity, effectiveness, and reliability with a view to implementing the objectives of the game were analyzed in offensive and in defense. The Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) is a newly developed test that assesses the combat readiness of U.S. Army soldiers. Maximal aerobic capacity (VO2max) characteristics vary between soldiers and have the ability to affect performance outcomes. Critical speed (CS) is the speed one can sustain while maintaining blood lactate, phosphocreatine, and oxygen uptake levels. “Distance capacity beyond CS” (D’) is the reserve an athlete can draw from to run faster than their CS. By increasing CS and D’, athletes can sustain a faster threshold pace (CS) and have a greater sprint capacity (D’). This study examined the effects of hot water immersion (HWI) on exercise performance and inflammatory markers after a resistance exercise-induced muscle damage protocol. Strength trained males (n = 5) and females (n = 5) completed two experimental trials separated by at least 2 weeks in a randomized crossover design; one trial involved HWI, the other temperate water immersion (TWI). For each trial, subjects performed a muscle damaging protocol followed by HWI or TWI for up to 50 minutes. Division I cross country (XC) running has many factors that influence performance and is extremely difficult to predict. Consequently, coaches often struggle to identify performance potential in athletes. In this study, personal best race times, VO2max, triceps skinfold, and a series of counter movement jump assessments were performed by female (n=15) and male (n=17) NCAA XC runners to predict XC performance. Simple regression modeling identified 3200-m high school (HS) personal best (PB) time as best predictor for men’s 8-km performance (r = 0.85; p = 0.005, SEE = ± 0.65 min). Background: The purpose of the current study was to compare the effect of two different rest intervals on the number of repetitions performed in lower body resistance exercises in consecutive sets. Material/Methods: 12 trained men (age 22.85 ±1.7 yrs; height 175.63 ±4.6 cm; weight 75.54 ±4.8 kg) volunteered to participate in the study.
