The purpose of this explanatory sequential mixed methods research was to investigate the relationships between school principal leadership competencies, school organizational culture, and school performance grades in elementary schools in one district in western North Carolina using Quinn and Rohrbaugh’s (1983) Competing Values Framework (CVF). This study measured the correlation between school organizational culture, as measured by the Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument; school effectiveness, as indicated by the NC Accountability Grading Scale; and principal behaviors at the elementary level, as measured by the Leadership Competencies Assessment. Effective Tier 1 mathematics instruction within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) depends on the teacher’s ability to implement research-based instructional practices with confidence and fidelity (Berkeley et al., 2020; Cleaver, 2023). The purpose of this study was to explore educators' perspectives on how explicit, research-based mathematics professional development influenced their perceived capacity to deliver effective core instruction. The purpose of this mixed methods study was to explore the influence of high-stakes reading tests on student self-efficacy, or confidence, as readers. The study focused on sixth-grade students who had taken the reading end-of-grade (EOG) test in Grades 3, 4, and 5. I analyzed their third-grade reading EOG scores to determine if that score was predictive of the fourth-grade reading EOG score and repeated the same analysis to see if fourth-grade reading EOG scores were predictive of fifth-grade scores. This study evaluated the implementation and effectiveness of a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in a rural Title I elementary school. PBIS, multi-tiered framework, uses proactive strategies to enhance academic and behavioral outcomes. While effective in fostering positive school climates and reducing exclusionary discipline, implementation fidelity remains challenging, particularly in resource-constrained school settings. This mixed methods program evaluation analyzed the implementation of professional learning communities (PLCs) in four Title I elementary schools within a North Carolina district. This study examined stakeholders' perceptions regarding the impact of the PLC framework on instructional practices, the significance of collective efficacy within the framework, and the characteristics that define an effective PLC, as defined by Hord's (1997) five dimensions. Historical inequities disproportionately impacting historically marginalized communities continue to persist in classrooms today. Culturally responsive teaching plays an important role in addressing these inequities by recognizing and affirming diverse cultural identities. The purpose of this study was to explore elementary school teachers’ culturally responsive teaching self-efficacy (CRTSE) perceptions. This mixed methods convergent parallel study examined CRTSE across five domains: culturally congruent instruction, cross-cultural communication, culturally relevant curricula, cultural diversity knowledge, and cultural caring learning communities. The study aimed to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on elementary teachers' perceptions of their working conditions and immediate professional plans in North Carolina. It compared 2018, 2020, and 2024 data to identify differences in perceptions of the pandemic. Using a nonexperimental quantitative design, the study analyzed archived data from the North Carolina Teacher Working Conditions Survey (NCTWCS) obtained from the North Carolina Education Research Data Center (NCERDC). This mixed methods sequential explanatory study examined how elementary teachers’ perceptions influenced the fidelity and effectiveness of behavioral interventions in K–5 public schools. Grounded in Bandura’s (1986) Social Cognitive Theory and Fixsen et al.’s (2019) Implementation Science Framework, the study explored the relationship between teacher confidence, professional development, and outcomes related to student achievement. Quantitative data showed reductions in behavior incidents, in-school suspensions (ISS), and out-of-school suspensions (OSS) from fall to spring, while qualitative data from surveys and interviews emphasized the need for sustained support, differentiated intervention plans, and a strong school-wide culture. Dual language immersion programs have continued to grow in North Carolina, providing students with learning opportunities focused on bilingualism, biliteracy, and sociocultural competency. This qualitative case study explored the influence of ecological systems on internal stakeholders (teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators) within one dual language strand within a school’s Chinese immersion program in North Carolina. This dissertation presents a qualitative case study investigating the influence of cognitive coaching on elementary international teachers within a southeastern school district. Guided by four research questions, the study delved into the experiences and perceptions of international teachers participating in cognitive coaching sessions, aiming to elucidate the influence of this professional development approach on instructional practices, classroom management, communication/language barriers, and the delivery of instruction. This study aimed to investigate the impact of LETRS professional development on reading proficiency. I used ANOVA tests to analyze third- through fifth-grade EOG assessment scores for changes in proficiency from 2021-2023. The results indicated a statistically significant change in the means for all grades. Third-grade results reflected the most impact from the professional development. The analysis also showed that the third-grade achievement gap had declined slightly. A dependent t test was conducted to ascertain any change in the growth index scores of schools. The test results showed no statistically significant change. The study's limitations include the lingering impact of …

This quantitative study explored how well the Big Ideas Math (BIM) curriculum helped third-grade students in Title I schools within the Polston School District (pseudonym) improve their math skills and high-stakes testing scores. Thirteen elementary schools were selected based on factors such as diversity, poverty rates, and academic performance. The study addressed 2019-2023 except for the COVID-19 year, 2020. Using the logic model and constructivism as the conceptual framework, the study assessed student progress through quarterly benchmarks and the SC READY exam. The implementation procedures and end products of grading reform were assessed using the CIPP model. These perceptions allow educational leaders insight into how teachers navigate systems that create inequities and what professional development may be needed to further support equitable learning in the classroom. Some of the benefits of parental involvement in schools are increased attendance rates, better communication between parents and teachers, and positive effects on academics (Duman et al., 2018, Hornby & Lafaele, 2011). Knowing parent and teacher perceptions and behaviors of parental involvement in different contexts provides the data needed to structure programs, policies, and activities that are tailored to the needs of the school. The purpose of this mixed methods study was to examine coping strategies for teachers in elementary schools who taught during the COVID-19 pandemic. Teachers experienced mental, physical, and spiritual challenges throughout the pandemic, and this study shared how teachers coped. Through this study, 48 teachers serving in three different elementary schools in North Carolina completed ten 4-point Likert scale response items. The survey tool's validity was established using the Lawshe content validation index. Interviews were conducted, in addition to a focus group session.
