The assessment and evaluation of the Kinetic Family Drawing Instrument as a screening device was used to identify possible "at risk” first grade students in public school. It was hypothesized that the KFD would serve as a better means of identification than teacher referral alone. Seventy-five first grade students from a Chapter I school participated in the study. A check list of seven classroom behaviors was given to the teachers of the participating students to identify "at risk" behaviors in the classroom.
