School Social Workers’ Perception Of School Climate: An Ecological System Perspective, Hussein Soliman
School Social Workers’ Perception Of School Climate: An Ecological System Perspective, Hussein Soliman
International Journal of School Social Work
Abstract
The focus of this study was on school social workers' perception of school climate and to determine the factors that contribute to positive environment within the school. Using the ecological framework, the study examined the views of 315 school social workers concerning the current social climate in the state of Illinois by using a number of standardized—i.e., School Survey Crime and Safety Principle—and composite sub-scales. Correlation analysis presented significant associations among the study variables. A path analysis model was developed; it included one dependent variable (School Climate) and 6 independent variables (Resources, Exposure, Communication, Measures, and …

Qualitative Exploration Of Principal Behaviors In Elementary Schools Classified With High Climate And High Achievement, Christian Kirby, Christian Aubrey Kirby
Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership Dissertations
The purpose of this study is to gain a clear understanding of principal behaviors in high achieving/high climate elementary schools in North Georgia and the impact of these behaviors on future principal professional learning practices. This research study was conducted using a qualitative case study with a phenomenological approach. The particular phenomena studied in this research are the characteristics and behaviors exhibited by principals in elementary schools with high achievement and high climate ratings in one North Georgia School District. Case studies, by nature, involve a small target population.
The study analyzed total instructional programs, reducing the achievement gap, and …
Spiritual Leadership, School Climate, And Teacher Collective Efficacy In Asian International Schools, Tobin E. Holden
Spiritual Leadership, School Climate, And Teacher Collective Efficacy In Asian International Schools, Tobin E. Holden
CUP Ed.D. Dissertations
This research explored whether spiritual leadership could predict teacher collective efficacy and school climate in Asian international schools. Fifteen international schools from nine countries elected to participate and 104 teachers completed an online survey. Linear regression and multiple regression were used to discover a prediction equation linking spiritual leadership to the outcomes of teacher collective efficacy and school climate. Findings from this study indicated that spiritual leadership significantly predicted teacher collective efficacy accounting for 28.3% of the variation, a small effect according to Cohen (1988). Further, spiritual leadership significantly predicted school climate accounting for 44.1.3% of the variation, a medium …
The Relationship Between Positive Behavioral Interventions And Supports In Elementary Schools And Mathematics Achievement., Robert Larry Taylor
The Relationship Between Positive Behavioral Interventions And Supports In Elementary Schools And Mathematics Achievement., Robert Larry Taylor
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This causal-comparative study examined the relationship between Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and academic achievement in elementary school mathematics. Research has shown that PBIS may help establish a positive school climate, which supports the conditions for effective teaching and learning (Bradshaw, Koth, Bevans, Ialongo, & Leaf, 2008; Horner, Sugai, & Vincent, 2005; Hoy, Tarter, & Bliss, 1990). Accordingly, this study examined variables of particular interest, which were mathematical performance, including mathematical performance by male academic achievement, female academic achievement, and socioeconomic status, based on PBIS implementationThe data used were school-level, 5th grade mathematics achievement scores. Elementary schools, which participated …
A Correlational Study Examining The Relationship Between Restorative Practices And School Climate In Selected Elementary Schools In A Large Mid-Atlantic Urban School District, Akil A. Boucaud

That’S So Gay: An Analysis Of Lgbtqia+ Students And School Climate Within Institutions Of Higher Education, Daniel Macmaster Fox
Master's Projects and Capstones
Institutions of higher education are composed of LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, and + to be inclusive of all identities) communities that are more diverse, out, and active than ever before. However, studies have shown time and again how institutions are unable to accommodate the changes in their demographics, harming the LGBTQIA+ community and limiting student success. Overall, LGBTQIA+ students experience a very hostile school climate, with many reporting high levels of anti-LGBTQIA+ perceptions and experiences. Generally, the LGBTQIA+ community is ignored by institutions of higher education. When LGBTQIA+ inclusive policies, awareness programs, and other resources are …
Teacher Perceptions Of School Climate And Pbis, Douglas Periman
Teacher Perceptions Of School Climate And Pbis, Douglas Periman
All Master's Theses
The purpose of this study was to assess the relationship between perceptions of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), a behavior change system implemented in schools, length of teaching experience, and teacher perceptions of school climate. The sample for this study was made up of certified teachers in schools that had implemented PBIS, and from schools that had not implemented PBIS, located in Washington State. Data were collected from two surveys, one of which measured teacher perceptions of PBIS and the other measured teacher perceptions of school climate. A simultaneous multiple regression analysis was performed to determine if there was …

Relationship Between School Climate And Student Achievement, Gail H. Greenway
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Increasingly public schools in the United States are finding that factors beyond curriculum and instruction impact student achievement. Much research has been conducted on the relationship between school climate and student achievement (Cohen, McCabe, Michelli, & Pickeral, 2009; Guo & Higgins-D’Alessandro, 2011). This study set out to determine if there was a correlation between school climate and student achievement in middle schools in the Central Savannah River Area Regional Educational Service Agency region in the state of Georgia.
