College Choice In Distance-Based Nursing Programs, Jill Lansing
College Choice In Distance-Based Nursing Programs, Jill Lansing
Legacy Theses & Dissertations (2009 - 2024)
The expansion and diversification of postsecondary education in the United States has led to greater options for students and prospective students for pursuing a college degree. An important trend in higher education today is distance education. Despite the growing prevalence of distance learning opportunities and the expanding body of research on distance education, research on the college-going decisions of distance learners is sparse. As more students enroll in distance-based higher education programs, it is increasingly important to understand how and why students make the decision to enroll in collegiate degree-granting programs. This study bridges the college choice and distance education …

A Mixed Methods Study Of Shared Epistemic Agency In Team Projects In An Online Baccalaureate Nursing Course, Suzanne Hayes
Legacy Theses & Dissertations (2009 - 2024)
This study explores the role of instructional design in the development of shared epistemic agency (SEA) when RN to BSN nursing students collaborate to complete a team project in an online course. Paavola & Hakkarainen's (2005) trialogical model of learning is used to design a learning activity where teams create a shared knowledge object, a co-authored patient interprofessional care plan to support group knowledge creation. The study addresses the following research questions:
Socialization In The Asynchronous Online Course Discussion Of Graduate Nursing Administration Students : A Case Study, Annie Louise Moore-Cox
Socialization In The Asynchronous Online Course Discussion Of Graduate Nursing Administration Students : A Case Study, Annie Louise Moore-Cox
Legacy Theses & Dissertations (2009 - 2024)
Over the last several years there has been an increase in the amount of graduate education in nursing offered online in Web-based programs. There is a lack of research into the role played by online graduate nursing course discussion, an important component of many courses, in the process of socialization for advanced nursing roles. To understand more about socialization in online courses, I studied the asynchronous discussion within two master's level nursing administration courses. Interviews with selected subjects who participated in the courses, four students and two faculty members, helped me understand the participants' post program perceptions of the value …
Dependability And Accuracy Of Clinical Performance In Nursing Examination Scores, Laurie Vanessa Nagelsmith
Dependability And Accuracy Of Clinical Performance In Nursing Examination Scores, Laurie Vanessa Nagelsmith
Legacy Theses & Dissertations (2009 - 2024)
The purpose of this study is to determine the dependability and accuracy of Clinical Performance in Nursing Examination (CPNE®) scores obtained from trained raters. Intraclass correlations were calculated to estimate interrater agreement. Accuracy of scores was determined by identifying percent accuracy for each scored element. Generalizability (G) coefficients were calculated to estimate sources of variance in CPNE scores. The population for the study is adjunct faculty at Excelsior College who agreed to participate in the study and are clinical examiners trained as raters for the CPNE
