The number of corporate debacles in recent history has been a great concern to the financial community. From Enron to Bear Stearns, the events have highlighted that greed, incompetence, and deception exist systemically. After these and other similar events, the importance of professional ethics intensified. The purpose of the project was to develop a model curriculum integrating values/morals education with language arts instruction. To accomplish this purpose a current literature search regarding values/morals education and related language arts instruction was conducted. Additionally, related information from selected schools was obtained and analyzed.

Values Education: Using The Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements In Social Studies To Teach Values, Elizabeth Smith

The development of a Values Education curriculum included with the Social Studies curriculum was studied. Related literature was reviewed. The review of literature showed that school systems that have tried a comprehensive values education plan are finding some pro-social results from their programs. Lessons were developed for West Valley (WA) fifth grade students using the Washington State Essential Learning requirements in Civics. A summary, conclusions and recommendations are included.

The purpose of this project was to design and develop a model business ethics curriculum for high school students at Changhua Provincial Commercial High School in Changhua, Taiwan, (R.O.C.). To accomplish this purpose, current research and literature related to recent developments in business ethics curriculum and instruction was reviewed. Additionally, related information from selected schools with business ethics programs was obtained and analyzed.

Global Decisions: A Curriculum For Enrichment In Health Education Using Kohlberg's Discussion Of Moral Dilemmas, Leanne Bond Lacey

Using Lawrence Kohlberg's Theory of Moral Development and Discussion of Moral Dilemmas, an enrichment curriculum was created for use in the senior high school Health Education classroom or the Gifted Education classroom. The student is first introduced to the six stages of moral development as outlined by Kohlberg's theory. The instructional theories of Taba, Simon and Raths are also integrated with Kohlberg's theory through both individual and group discussion activities. The purpose of this study is to present information pertinent to education for citizenship training in the elementary schools. This paper attempts to give suggested ideas for the improvement of: (1) respect for law, (2) loyalty and patriotism, (3) respect for self and others, (4) the development of attitudes and values, and (5) the teacher's general background with regard to citizenship training.
