Abstract As teachers make their way back to the classroom for the 2023–2024 school year, teacher burnout is manifesting itself mentally, physically, and emotionally. The purpose of this case study is to understand how stress impacts first-year, 7th-12th grade teachers’ relationships with their students at Green County Schools. The theory guiding this study is the cognitive appraisal theory from Lazarus and Folkman, as it describes the impact of a person’s appraisal of stress and how it influences the perspective of individuals. As first-year teachers are framing their experiences for the first time, this approach helps contextualize how they cope and affect their relationships. Students with dyslexia simultaneously struggle with both literacy acquisition and poor self-esteem and undergo social-emotional learning difficulties. The purpose of this qualitative descriptive study was to explore elementary general education teachers’ perceptions regarding the dyslexia training they received for addressing the social and emotional learning (SEL) needs of children with dyslexia. The conceptual framework guiding this study was the five core competencies for SEL developed by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning. The purpose of this phenomenological study was to understand the lived experience of educators who sought to recognize and address academic stress in secondary students. The theory guiding this study was Lazarus and Folkman’s transactional model of stress as it relates to the ways educators experience the appraisal, stress, and coping of students facing academic stress. Dweck’s growth mindset theory was applied to frame educators’ perspectives of student growth potential.
