Works of the FIU Libraries
This workshop explored how to best promote the use of special collections and archives to the teaching community of South Florida. The presenters conducted this training to connect South Florida area teachers with resources for using primary source material in the classroom as part of a larger grant-funded project entitled, “Finding Our Place in History: Engaging Students with Local History through Online Primary Source Sets.” This workshop for educators introduced FIU’s primary source set and highlighted techniques for engaging with digital primary sources in the K-12 classroom.

Transforming Libraries for Graduate Students
Eager to provide graduate students the opportunity to develop themselves professionally, University Libraries in partnership with the Graduate School and International Education initiated a graduate student speaker series in 2018. The series, now in its second year, provides graduate students a forum in which to present their research- whether a finished product or work in progress- to the university community. To be eligible to speak in the series, each student must have used resources from the Special Collections Division as part of their work.
