Coping With Stress: A Guide For College Students [Brochure And Streaming Video], Brenna Harris, Gracie Price

Counseling Concepts and Applications for Student Affairs Professionals (CNS 577)

This project defines stress for struggling college students, identifies negative coping mechanisms for stress, and illustrates techniques for coping with stress in a positive manner. It specifically focuses on the consequences for participating in negative coping skills such as an over consumption of caffeine, consuming alcohol in excess, and procrastination while also highlighting the benefits of a variety of positive strategies. The project concludes by differentiating between stress and anxiety in order to prepare students to seek professional help if needed.

Disputes regarding the recent presidential election have bred hatred and distrust between those of competing political persuasions. As a result, colleges and universities attempt to educate their students on the political process and global issues. Following this political awakening, many young adults return home for holidays and find themselves at odds with the beliefs of their parents. Many college students use spring break as a time to unwind and get away from their classes and responsibilities, but unfortunately many also leave their common sense behind. Our video will show students how to incorporate safe practices into their vacations. We will go into detail about safe alcohol consumption, consent education, and basic emergency procedures. Our goal is that students will have the information they need to take care of themselves and their friends.
