Values Education In Bangladesh: Understanding High School Graduates' Perspectives, Leo J. Pereira

Theses & Dissertations

Values education is a subject that may be neglected in some educational settings. An absence of values education may lead to dysfunction in society. Scholars have only recently become interested in the importance of values education (Koh, 2012). Although the National Education Policy in Bangladesh has long emphasized the inculcation of values in educational institutions (Ministry of Education, 1974, 2010), recent research has revealed the inadequate implementation and practice of values education (UNICEF Bangladesh, 2009). The purpose of this basic interpretive qualitative study was to understand the high school graduates' perspectives regarding values education and the values they learned while …

Alumni Commitment: Exploring The Process Of Transition From Participants To Donors, Tina Siller

Through this focus, institutions hope to connect with students and build an emotional connection or affiliation that will last beyond the student years and into the alumni years. Alumni play a pivotal role in institutional advancement in that they serve as sources of support through their active participation, networking representation, serving as community liaisons, and their charitable contributions. Enabling Change: Faculty And Student Perceptions Of Blended Learning, Ronald Washington

Theses & Dissertations

The philosopher Plato in his Seventh Epistle argued that the technology of writing is an insufficient means of society conveying knowledge and obtaining truth (Neel, 1988). Many insights from his rhetorical works however are etched in history by this technology. As society moves further into the information age, the relevance of blended learning in higher education is taking on greater significance (Garrison & Vaughan, 2008). Higher education institutions are on the verge of another significant paradigm shift in the dissemination of knowledge and truth. Understanding the shift to new computer-mediated means of knowledge delivery through blended learning experiences requires an …

Blended Learning in education is the future for higher education. The rapid changes in technology combined with a demand for a more agile environment is transforming the traditional classroom and challenging learning models. Higher education has been adapting by moving classroom time into purely online environments. However, the literature suggests the new wave of learning is extracting the best practices from traditional and online models and infusing them into a blended environment. The agility and use of technology allows the non-traditional student to balance a professional career and life demands while still gaining the benefits of face-to-face time in the …
