The student interaction we would like to share was as co-facilitators for a workshop based on Kouzes and Posner’s “Encouraging the Heart” principle from The Leadership Challenge.

Values-based leadership and ethical decision-making are hot topics. However, the expectations and frameworks surrounding these characteristics are often unclear. The purpose of this article is to analyze values-based, ethical leadership by defining values and ethics, summarizing values-based ethical decision-making frameworks, and examining how leadership educators (scholars and practitioners) can develop students who lead with integrity.

This is a qualitative multiple case study that analyzes and compares the purpose, roles, and drivers of change for continuing education divisions in public, four-year, post baccalaureate, comprehensive higher education institutions in the United States. The research stems from a historical standpoint. This study also examined processes carried out by continuing education leadership to demonstrate quality and accountability to their higher education institutions. This investigation focuses on the distinctive drivers that have triggered and influenced changes in continuing education units within higher education institutions.

Given the widespread popularity of the Social Change Model of Leadership Development (SCM) in college student leadership literature, there is a surprising lack of attention to the assessment of leadership skills associated with this model. This study was aimed at gaining a greater understanding of leadership through an assessment of leadership attributes associated with the SCM. This research study was quasiexperimental and examined a leadership development series at a public, 4-year, Midwestern university. Undergraduate college students participated in a leadership development series over the ·course of a semester, with a follow-up analysis completed 2- 3 weeks into the second semester. …

The federal Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, defines a historically Black institution of higher education as "any historically Black college or university that was established prior to 1964, whose principle mission was, and is, the education of Black Americans." Today, there are approximately 105 HBCUs, more than half private, the rest public, and a few two-year institutions (Allen, Jewell, Griffin, & Wolf, 2007).
