Throughout the country at this time, Social Studies curriculum has come under scrutiny, especially in areas that try to promote a diverse/inclusive or multicultural curriculum. These efforts have been met with a large amount of resistance from community members and stakeholders in many school districts. The research however has shown that by having a diverse and inclusive historical curriculum, students from all demographics benefit and have increased levels of empathy towards marginalized groups of students.
