Instructional Coaching (IC) is a strand of Professional Development (PD) during which an instructional coach provides individualized support and feedback to teachers, focused on instruction, generally within the context of the teacher’s classroom (Kraft et al., 2018). This fully integrated mixed method case study examined teacher experience with IC in order to understand which operational and emotional components of IC had the greatest perceived impact, in order to inform program improvement. The purpose of this study was to explore the numeracy skills required for safe, quality nursing practice. Using a descriptive mixed methods design, this study answered two research questions: 1) What numeracy skills do nurses perceive as important for providing safe, quality nursing care in the first three years of practice? 2) How do nurses incorporate numeracy skills into daily patient care during the first three years of practice? Apprenticeships offer a practical solution to a growing skills gap, youth unemployment and rising school debt in the United States by delivering a low cost, high-skilled, educated, competitive labor force. Government, industry, and educational institutions have increased focus on expanding apprenticeships. However, enrollment and participation in apprenticeships in the United States remains low. Why?

Legislators, educators, and business leaders agree two primary factors contribute to low apprenticeship participation in the United States: lack of awareness and negative perception of apprenticeships. Through a multi-layered review of United States University, a gap in professional development for adjunct faculty was identified. To ensure that students’ are best supported in the online classroom, ensuring that faculty are provided with training around pedagogical and instructional skills aligned with the University mission is essential. The perceived value of the Community of Practice model was assessed to address the gap in faculty development through a mixed-methods convergent design study.
