In order to meet the academic demands of the school system, school-aged children must be able to understand the language (discourse) of their teachers and the curricular expectations for verbal expression. Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), working within the schools, need to identify and include in their therapy planning the learning supports that will contribute to students’ classroom success. One useful data-set for this planning is knowledge of the types and levels of discourse used and expected by the classroom teacher. El presente trabajo de investigación, inició durante la práctica docente en la Institución Educativa Herbert Spencer, donde las investigadoras con base en la importancia que tiene el aprendizaje del inglés como lengua extranjera, identificaron que en el desarrollo de sus procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje, la concepción de lo que son el ambiente de aprendizaje y el comportamiento de los estudiantes tiene gran relevancia en el contexto del aula de clase; por lo tanto, de allí surgió el interés por analizar la relación entre dichos componentes y con el fin de comprender mejor las dinámicas de la clase de inglés
