Literacy in information and communication technology (ICT) is critical to students as they progress through schooling and enter a world in which information technology will be ubiquitous. Work, health care, family finances, learning and social interaction will all depend on competence in ICT. To assess progress in this crucial part of student learning, ACARA conducts a National Assessment Program (NAP) aimed at measuring ICT literacy. Since ICT has become a new and pervasive supplementary tool in teaching job, this descriptive survey research examines the application of electronic devices in teaching and its influence on teaching effectiveness of academic staff of Nigeria universities. Tai Solarin University of Education and Olabisi Onabanjo University, both in Ogun State, were used as case study. The study population comprises all the students and lecturers in the universities. Multi-stage sampling technique utilizing proportional random sampling was used to select the study sample. There have been a plethora of research reports providing information about the achievements of students in Australian schools and how those achievements differ among jurisdictions and among groups of students. However, each report has often been viewed in isolation from other similar studies. This report is intended to provide an integrated appraisal of the results of the international and national achievement surveys conducted since 1994 but with some references to earlier studies.
