The goals of this study are to identify key competency areas that lead to success in online instruction and to develop a framework that supports professional development and self- assessment. To identify the key competency areas, skills and behaviours presented within current literature were analyzed. Secondly, gaps were identified and levels of competence were determined within each key competency area. The resulting analysis produced the Online Teaching Competency (OTC) Matrix including five competency areas: Community & Netiquette, Active Teaching/Facilitating, Instructional Design, Tools & Technology, and Leadership & Instruction. Plurilingualism In Tesl Programs? Are We There Yet?, Danielle Freitas

With the emergence of a plurilingual paradigm shift in language teaching, questions concerning the extent to which language teacher education programs are effectively preparing language teachers to teach in our messy, heteroglossic, and multilingual world (Pavlenko, 2005) have assumed immediate relevance in the training and education of teachers. Despite the considerable number of TESOL/TESL programs qualifying teachers around the world, little is known about how these programs have adapted their pedagogy to meet the current reality of a plurilingual paradigm shift in language teaching. This research investigated the curriculum and pedagogy of a TESL Certificate course in Canada.

At Sheridan, originality matters; prevention and education to reduce breaches of academic integrity (AI) is our shared responsibility. This past year, Library and Learning Services explored what an Integrated AI Model might look like at Sheridan. Extensive research including a literature review and interviews with experts from universities across North America was carried out.

This report summarizes the findings and includes recommendations for an Integrated AI Model.

Technology And Disability Identity: "Now You See Me, Now You Don't", Janice Fennell

This qualitative study examines how students’ identities are constructed when technology and disability intersect. Understanding how technology constructs the identities of students with invisible special needs such as learning disabilities is critical to determining why students are resistant to, or accepting of, assistive technology pedagogy.

The primary source of data for the study was in-depth, phenomenologically based interviewing using structured, open-ended dialogue. Three Ontario secondary schools provided the setting for the study. Participants included five students with learning disabilities who are users of assistive technology, two parents, two teachers, and two assistive technology coaches.
