In attempts to make government fair and equitable, the process of any bill but especially the budget bill can be extremely convoluted and difficult to follow. I was able to learn how to navigate the system and understand the processes by which things happen at the statehouse.

The statehouse is filled with representatives of countless interest groups all fighting for their opinion of how things should be done. As demonstrated by this budget cycle, government can be a push and pull directed by politics, personal opinions, and countless other factors, which may result in nothing getting done.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of using ‘Number Talks’ intervention on students’ ability to use number sense to problem-solve and persevere in solving problems within a second-grade math class. The 22 participants were volunteers in my second-grade class. A quasi-experimental design method was used to compare results between a control group and intervention group using a pre-post test design. The intervention group received 15 minutes of ‘Number Talks’ a day for a total of 12 days while the control group participated in traditional daily math activities. The purpose of this project is to present a literacy curriculum designed specifically for emergent English Learners (ELs) and refugee students. The curriculum utilizes the Language Experience Approach (LEA) to support ELs in their literacy learning as well as capitalize on student strengths in oral language. The purpose of this capstone project was to engage in narrative inquiry to explore teacher self-efficacy of inclusion teachers in a classroom where teachers may have low sense of teacher self-efficacy. Two special education teachers who have experienced challenges in co-teaching in the regular classrooms explored pre-conferencing with the general education teacher before class and reflecting with the general education teacher after the class period to try and increase teacher self-efficacy. The purpose of this curriculum design project was to create a curriculum modeled after practices of literacy coaching, to help coach teachers on effective and inclusive methods and practices to offset disruptive, student behavior in their classroom. Using research from literacy coaching a curriculum was created into a handbook for behavior coaches to follow when coaching teachers in their building. The purpose of this research to is examine the impacts teaching collaboration tools within Project-based learning, in a Kindergarten classroom.  Data collection was taken by video recording two PBL projects, observing and reflecting on field notes, and recording students reflection how they collaborated during each project. This data collection compared two different half day Kindergarten classes with similar demographics. The AM class was taught collaboration by using different collaboration tools while the PM class was not.  Both classes did the same PBL projects with small groups and the data was collected on collaboration in comparison between the two groups. This study was a quantitative, quasi-experimental study, comparing 4 classes, studying an 8th grade science unit in a gamified classroom within a suburban middle school. A “Leveling Up” intervention was used in a gamified classroom with the experimental group and compared to a control group in a gamified classroom not using the leveling up intervention.
