The problem of this thesis was to determine the extent of retention and understanding of selected terms found in certain textbooks in Constitution for Kansas high schools. The purpose of this thesis is twofold, which will be explained later; however, the particular problem under investigation is "An Evaluation of General Science Textbooks". The textbooks to be evaluated are those used at the high school level. As a further explanation of the particular problem under investigation, it should be stated that five general science texts were selected to be evaluated. These texts were not arrived at by personal choice, or preference, but rather by selecting the five most frequently used by teachers of science in high schools in the state of Kansas.
