An evaluation and recommendations for change to the vocational education program at Stanton High School was conducted on the basis of existing programs, community needs survey, interviews with administration personnel, and a review of literature on vocational education. A survey of the 204 Class AA high schools was conducted to ascertain the type of vocational programs that were provided and the reasons for inclusion of each listed program. 166 responses were received. The accumulated data was then translated into tables showing what existed, what was being done elsewhere, and what was perceived as being needed.

A series of observations was made on students attending a cultural center during the third of three visits scheduled throughout the school year. A single observer made 444 one minute observations on kindergarten/ first, second, and third grade students participating in two learning areas. The group activity area emphasized group participation where small groups were formed consisting of students from each school and ethnic group represented. The individual activity area offered the students a choice of center activities as well as the freedom to choose with whom they wanted to work. Thirty-eight third grade students were given the Intellectual Achievement Responsibility (lAR) Questionaire in order to determine their internal and external attribution scores. From those scores, 28 subjects were chosen to test the hypothesis by performing two separate but related tasks under the conditions of self-and external rewards. A correlation using the Pearson Product- Moment Correlation Coefficient was computed in order to determine the relation between the subject's attribution level and performance under different conditions of reward. The results showed a higher relationship between attribution and self-reward when self-reward followed external reward. A Chi square test was also computed to determine …

A Study Of The Career Maturity Of Low Socio-Economic Teenagers, Margaret Saunders

This experiment was a comparison of the pre and posttest scores of low socio-economic teenagers on Cirites' Career Maturity Inventory and the Gordon occupational Checklist. The experimental group was exposed to learning modules with emphasis on personal relations, problem-solving techniques, and decision-making methods. A MANOVA test revealed no significant differences between the pre and posttests on either the Career Maturity Inventory or the Gordon Occupational Checklist. There is an indication that these Subjects may need development in other areas as their career maturity is within the normal range.
