This article examines the complexity of cooperative learning as an instructional strategy and discusses its positive effects for all students. The writer then defends cooperative learning as a classroom strategy for the academically gifted, even though gifted education practitioners frequently criticize it. He cites current research that identifies cooperative learning as an appropriate general education classroom strategy for all learners, as well as studies that criticize its effectiveness.
