Mhc Names Fall 2022 Faculty Grant Recipients, Clement And Linda Mcgillicuddy Humanities Center

The Clement and Linda McGillicuddy Humanities Center is pleased to announce the winners of its Fall 2022 Faculty Grant competition. The MHC provides financial support for humanities initiatives through grant programs open to UMaine faculty, lecturers and adjuncts. Recipients of Fall 2022 Faculty Grants came from departments across campus and represent scholars across their careers. Grants this semester will support travel for research, visiting speakers, and humanities programming for students, faculty, and the community.

Mcgillicuddy Humanities Center Welcomes Four New Undergraduate Fellows For Fall 2022, Clement And Linda Mcgillicuddy Humanities Center

This semester, the Clement and Linda McGillicuddy Humanities Center (MHC) welcomes four new undergraduate research fellows for the next two semesters: Bell Gellis Morais, Brenna Jones, Paige McHatten and Donald Patten. This new cohort will join current fellows Benjamin Allen, April Messier, Tom Pinette and Sherralyn Robbins, who are finalizing their research in fall 2022. MHC undergraduate fellows receive an award of $8,000 over the course of two semesters to pursue an independent research or creative project in the humanities in collaboration with a faculty member.

The Clement and Linda McGillicuddy Humanities Center’s mission is to demonstrate the immediacy and applicability of humanities studies by advancing teaching, research and public engagement in the humanities in Maine. It supports programs that foster intellectual curiosity, critical reflection and creative innovation.

Central to the Center’s work is the belief that study of the humanities cultivates compassion across differences, develops empathy and, in addition to providing a sound training in critical thinking, develops the emotional and intellectual agility needed to navigate an increasingly interconnected and complex global landscape.

Four Students Join Mcgillicuddy Humanities Center As Undergraduate Fellows For Spring 2022, Clement And Linda Mcgillicuddy Humanities Center

In January 2022, the McGillicuddy Humanities Center (MHC) welcomed four new undergraduate research fellows for the next two semesters: Benjamin Allen, April Messier, Tom Pinette and Sheralynn Robbins. This new cohort will join existing fellows Luke Miller, Sabrina Paetow, Stephanie Tillotson, and Heather Webb, who are finalizing their research in Spring 2022.
