The purpose of this qualitative holistic single case study was to describe how practicing attorneys in North Carolina experience continuing legal education (CLE) courses delivered online. The purpose of this intrinsic case study, which followed a single-case, embedded research design, was to understand undergraduate education students’ experiences in online cooperative learning environments. Garrison, Anderson, and Archer’s community of inquiry model, rooted in Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory of learning and Tinto’s student integration theory, were used to guide this study and describe the significance of fostering strong social, cognitive, and teaching presence within online learning environments. This study examined the faculty efficacy of online business faculty of adult students. It compared the differences in efficacy of business faculty who are trained in teaching, with some sort of educational degree, and faculty who are only credentialed in their discipline. The study also considered the effects on faculty efficacy that teaching experience plays. The research question asked: Is there a difference between the teacher efficacy scores of online business faculty members who have a teaching degree and those who do not have a teaching degree?
