The author examined the effectiveness of the Leadership Experience Program (LEO), a new and innovative program designed to prepare assistant principals to become effective principles. Participants were able to respond to questions related to the three main components: Administrative Skills, Instructional Leadership Skills, and Interpersonal Relations Skills, the results showed that LEO was a successful means of training administrative. Recommendations included involving teachers, parents and cooperating principles in future evaluations of the summer program.

Increasing Essay Scores Of Advanced Placement Students By Use Of The Rubric And Forensic Invention, James M. Ford

The high percentage of Advanced Placement English Language and Composition Students receiving below average grades on the Advanced Placement Examination was addressed by the implementation of a composition program including the use of the rubric as an instructional device, the use of forensic invention as an instructional strategy teaching writing in the argumentative mode of rhetorical discourse, and the use of intensive weekend sessions of test simulation. Results were measured by a pre-test post-test essay examination graded holistically by a qualifier reader using a scoring rubric. The inappropriate behavior of autistic students and teachers confusion, as to handling the students, was addressed by the design of an observable measure for teacher usage of structure and consistency in working with autistic students. The main thrust of this paper was to provide support to teachers so that they would handle students in a consistent manner in a structured classroom setting. Methods used were daily observation and meetings with feedback provided to teachers in a positive manner. The subjects responded favorably to the methods involved and implemented a structured and consistent environment for their students.

The author developed and implemented a writing program to aid first grade students in acquiring skills and confidence needed to perform as independent writers on a voluntary basis. The program's goals were to increase the frequency of independent writing behaviors, improve writing skills and develop a positive attitude toward the task of writing. The program centered around a collection of techniques and strategies used to motivate and instruct young children on writing skills.
