In 2008, the excitement to teach the class, Introduction to College to new students who are beginning college, was greatly accepted with much reservation. Numerous memories reflected back to that special period when the writer was faced with those daunting decisions of where to attend college. College is a new and challenging experience and can often put emotional, mental and/or physical strain on incoming students (Sax, Bryant & Gilmartin, 2002). Students may be affected differently based on the situations they encounter. Socialization and campus involvement can be a key factor in helping students overcome these issues. According to Pritchard and Wilson (2003), studies have shown that students who have a higher sense of emotional, mental and physical well-being are more likely to succeed in college.
