To study present school system of Spencer County and to devise a plan of reorganization of present system in order to provide a well rounded educational opportunity for the boys and girls of Spencer County, Kentucky. The consideration of this problem are:

  1. Comparison of teacher qualifications in the types of schools.
  2. Computation of enrollment, average daily attendance of the various types of schools.
  3. Determination cost per pupil and total cost of operation of present school system and reorganized school system as salary of teacher, maintenance, transportation and needed buildings.
  4. Provision for free transportation of all high school pupils.

The purpose of this study is to outline an adequate, correlated program of health, physical education and recreation for the students of the Todd County Consolidated School of Elkton, Kentucky. The necessity for providing better programs of health, physical education and recreation in our public schools has been demonstrated in the results of the Selective Service medical examination during World War II. All our educational agencies are stressing the need for a unified, integrated, and functioning program of this type. This study makes an attempt to develop such a program in this one particular school.

A Suggested Course Of Study For The Teaching Of Speech In The Junior & Senior High Schools Of Kentucky, Charles Loudermilk

In the decade (1920-1930) that followed numerous textbooks as such appeared for the teacher of speech, and courses in public speaking were added to high school curriculums in many states.

In Kentucky, in 1929, the State Department of Public Education advised and urged the high schools to add this course to their curriculum and to encourage all students to take it. Many of the high schools established separate departments for this course; others added it to their courses in English. Nearly all the Smith-Hughes High Schools, which were established in 1917, require training in public speaking.
