The Court Of Appeals And Education In Kentucky, Wilbur Wade Dec 1946

The Court Of Appeals And Education In Kentucky, Wilbur Wade

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

The purpose of this investigation was to make a study of education in Kentucky, as interpreted by decisions handed down by the Court of Appeals, and to show how these decisions have helped to form our educational policies, and to trace these trends from the first decision of our wise old men to the present. The decisions of the Court of Appeals have helped legislators to formulate the school laws that have been passed and that will be passed in the future. A Proposed Administrative And Supervisory Organization For Vocational Rehabilitation In Kentucky, Clifton Cook Aug 1946

A Proposed Administrative And Supervisory Organization For Vocational Rehabilitation In Kentucky, Clifton Cook

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

The urgent need for tapping new reserves of manpower during the recent war emergency caused new stress to be put upon the rehabilitation of handicapped individuals. Employers were more willing than ever before to give the handicapped person a chance to prove that he could produce in competition with those who were physically whole. These two factors combined to bring about an increase in the staff personnel in Kentucky in such a short period of time that it was impossible to revise the organization of this division of the State Department of Education rapidly enough to keep pace with its …

The Reorganization Of Hopkins County Schools, John Adams Aug 1946

The Reorganization Of Hopkins County Schools, John Adams

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

Purpose of the study - Educators and lay citizens alike, in the main, want the schools to extend their services so as to meet all the educational needs of the youth. Surveys of the schools in the Hopkins County District in recent years have convincingly revealed that these services are not being rendered. At the suggestion of the Hopkins County School Superintendent H.W. Wilkey, and others this study is being made.

This is an intensive study of the schools of Hopkins County as they exist today, with suggestions for a plan of reorganization to bring them to the point of …

A History Of Education In Pulaski County, Savannah Anderson Aug 1946

A History Of Education In Pulaski County, Savannah Anderson

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

The present educational status of Pulaski County has evolved through more than a century of slow progress. The causes back of the goals gained, whether they be natural consequences as in "the winning of the west," or the result of a brilliant stroke of genius on the part of some indomitable leadership, it is not the purpose of this study to determine.

The purpose may be stated thus:

(1) To preserve some rare materials in peril of passing into oblivion, such as primitive reports, given by the first trustees, pioneers of the primeval districts; the first notice issued by the …

A Study Of Pupil Rating In The Field Of Industrial Arts, Ralph Lewis Aug 1946

A Study Of Pupil Rating In The Field Of Industrial Arts, Ralph Lewis

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

Rating in its many forms and phases seems to be recognized as an integral part of standard classroom procedure. Industrial arts is one of the fields in which there is a great need for the application of the best known principles and procedures in educational measurement. Industrial arts teachers and supervisors need reliable measuring instruments and methods in order to give better educational guidance, to evaluate personality traits, to motivate learning, to study the effectiveness of teaching materials and methods, and to measure pupil progress more accurately through the establishment of more definite standards of performance and through the diagnosis …

A Program Of County Attendance Improvement, Robert Edwards Aug 1946

A Program Of County Attendance Improvement, Robert Edwards

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

This study deals with a proposed county plan for the improvement of attendance in the State of Kentucky.

2. There must be cooperation between the attendance office and other school officials.

3. An individual school program must be set up.

4. Accounts records of school census and attendance are necessary in order that the problem may be solved.

Reorganization Of Russell County's Schools, Luther Wilson Aug 1946

Reorganization Of Russell County's Schools, Luther Wilson

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

The purpose of this study is to deal with some undesirable conditions which could be corrected. Why should two small high schools exist with only seven miles separating them? Why should classes composed of fewer than ten students be taught, when the same students could be taught in larger groups, through consolidation without inconvenience to anyone? Why should 173 adolescents of Russell County eligible for high school not attend school? Why should teachers of two high schools in Russell County work in overcrowded buildings when they could work under better conditions. These are some of the problems which confront the …
