A Qualitative Study Of Seminary Principals For The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, Eric W. Johnson

This qualitative study investigates how leadership is embodied within the role of seminary principals in released-time seminaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This study utilized a grounded theory approach and constant comparative analysis while triangulating the data obtained from personal interviews, participant observations, and analysis of documents. The primary sources of data came from the personal experiences and perspectives of four principals, eight teachers, and one area administrator that are analyzed through biographical interviews.

A Study Of Problems Preventing The Implementation Of Programs For The Educable Mentally Retarded In Utah, John L. Beitia

The purposes of the study were to determine the level of priority of importance of administrative problem areas and specific problem items preventing the implementation of special programs for the educable mentally retarded in Utah. The study was conducted using a survey of twenty-seven school districts in the state of Utah lacking a sequential program for the educable mentally retarded in grades one through six.
A questionnaire was sent to 184 selected respondents, including school board chairmen, superintendents, and elementary principals. Responses were received from 92 percent of the original selection. The respondent was asked to rank each of the …

It is generally recognized that the State of Utah attempts to provide schooling to a higher proportion of youth than other states in the nation. Utah has the largest proportion of high school graduates (50 per cent) in its adult population, and also the highest median school years completed (12.2 years) by adults 25 years old and older. These are some of the highlights of the 1961 edition of the "Rankings of the States," an annual publication in which the National Education Association compares all 50 states in terms of educational effort and achievement.

The United States Office of Employment Security, early in 1962, reported that there were nearly five million available workers unemployed in the United States (3). An economic recession causing industry to cut back on production, more efficient methods in the manufacturing process, and the rapid changes in labor brought about by automation were listed as a few of the causes contributing to this condition. Another cause as depicted by an industry-produced film, "The Awesome Servant," showed that a large number of Americans that have had their jobs taken over by a machine have not been re-hired because they lack an …
